Abstract: Designing an embedded IoT product for industrial or consumer use involves constraints rarely discussed in academic settings: cost targets, reliability over years of operation, certification requirements, and the tight coupling between hardware and software decisions. This seminar offers an industry perspective on these challenges, combining real case studies with interactive discussion.

| | Biography: Antonio Taddeo studied Telecommunication Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He then moved to USI, where he completed a MAS in Embedded System Design, a PhD, and a PostDoc in Computer Science, with a focus on security for pervasive computing. He has more than 20 years of experience in industry, starting with his own startup, where he built an IoT system that reads a vineyard's weather for wine growers. Today he leads the Embedded Solutions team at Helbling Technik, turning ideas into real products, from bare metal RTOS on custom hardware to complex edge computing on embedded Linux. Small batch or millions of units, with IoT or without, he is always hunting for the smart solution that also keeps the budget in check. 15:30 |
