WISH (Workshop on International Social Housing) is a design course of the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, conceived with the specific intention to face and investigate, through architectural design, the collective and social housing topic. The course has a profound international vocation and tries to establish a fruitful academic collaboration with interested countries and institutions. Each year a group of students from the Accademy of Architecture in Mendrisio and from a partner University participate in the course that takes place during the summer months.
For the 2021 edition, ten students from the Academy of Architecture and five students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim will tackle the theme of collective accommodation in Longyearbyen through an 8-day study trip to the Svalbard Islands followed by a 5-week design workshop in Mendrisio.
