Mobility in numbers: outgoing students

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the numbers of outgoing students during the Autumn Semester 2021 are surprisingly high though unfortunately, 20% of the candidates decided to withdraw. The Spring Semester looks promising too!

Incoming students Autumn Semester 2020-21

For the first time, USI's new students kicked-off the academic year with a weekend-long orientation offering a variety of informative and social activities. A number of our incoming students attended this event.

Bilateral meetings to move mobility programmes further

In Spring, the International Relations Service met with most bachelor and master directors for a state of the art of the mobility programmes. It was a great opportunity to establish new internal cooperation. In the months ahead, we will work closely to turn all the ideas into more concrete actions.

On Friday, 11 September, 10 mobility students together with 30 regular students of USI's Academy of Architecture joined the last social activity of the Italian intensive course: a guided tour of the Museum Vincenzo Vela in Ligornetto.

	Extraordinary Erasmus+ call for projects with a focus on digitalisation and creativity The EU Commission is reacting to the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic by launching an additional call for projects for strategic partnerships (Key Action 2) on the subjects of digitalisation and creativity. The deadline for submission is 12 November.


	Movetia Funding Programs: what’s next in 2021? On the Movetia website, you will find useful information about the call for projects 2021 and how the SEMP, the International and the National programs will continue in view of the new generation of Erasmus+ and the position of Switzerland in this landscape.


	nexHack – 48 hours of digital hacking for #learningTomorrow Join the next “nexHack edtech”, a virtual Hackathon to develop edtech-solutions relating to two challenges in the field of international education. The Hackathon will take place from 6 - 8 November 2020. Anyone with ideas and an interest in international education can join individually or as a pre-formed team for this international, 48h-Hackathon. Organized by swissnex India/Boston and Movetia.


	EAIE podcasts The European Association for International Education (EAIE) offers a series of podcasts on a variety of topic related to international education.


	ESN activities for mobility students The European Student Network (Lugano section) organizes a series of activities for its members. In particular, the initiative discover Ticino, addressed to SEMP students participating in the ESN programme. During the academic year 2020/21 ESN invites you to put your backpacks on and walk along the paths of Ticino, discovering the most beautiful places of the territory: from Mendrisiotto to the upper Ticino. You can connect with them via their WhatsApp chat. The next event is the trip to the famous Tibetan Bridge, to which some of our incoming students have already registered.
