During the last EAIE in Helsinki, USI’s International Relations Service met with a colleague from KTH (Royal School of Technology) in Stockholm to exchange information about each other’s programmes and study curricula in the area of Journalism and Media Management and evaluate a potential collaboration. The meeting was fruitful, and a new agreement has been signed allowing 2 master students to spend a semester at KTH.

KTH has already been a partner university with USI’s Academy of Architecture, and we are happy that this collaboration could be extended also to the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society.

Movetia decided to conduct a survey of 40 Swiss institutions participating in the Swiss-European Mobility Programme with a view to determining the mobility situation of Swiss universities. Read more.

A comprehensive research report by the Erasmus Student Network on the Impact of Covid-19 on student exchanges in Europe.

The numbers of our free of charge Italian classes offered to all USI students and academic staff once again prove that they are highly appreciated:

Intensive courses
67 students regularly attended the 4 courses offered (levels A1, A1-A2, A2, A2-B1). 48 of them attended more than 75% of the course and passed the final test, obtaining the certificate of attendance. Among those, 15 are exchange students, who also obtained the corresponding ECTS.

Extensive courses (semester-long)
Over 131 originally enrolled, 101 are currently attending the courses offered (levels A1, A1-A2, A2, A2-B1, B1 and B1-B2). 10 of them are exchange students. Due to the Covid-19, all Italian classes are now being offered online, and participants continue to follow. Few among our researchers and professors have been affected by this change but generally speaking, we are very satisfied with the participation online.

In 2018, the confederation and cantons approved the Swiss strategy for exchange and mobility. The vision was that all young people should take part in an extended exchange activity during the course of their training. What has been achieved so far? Where is further commitment needed? What is to be done now? These questions are the focus of the “Second Conference on Exchange and Mobility”. Federal Councillor Alain Berset will open the conference.

Depending on the evolution of the Covid-19, the conference may be postponed to autumn.

All Swiss schools or institutions wishing to implement innovative cooperation projects were invited to submit their ideas to Movetia. The subsidy application procedure comprises two phases. During the first phase, candidates had until 31 January to present an initial draft outlining their project. In the event of a favourable decision, they can then present a more detailed request during the second phase before the final deadline of 31 May.
