Il Diploma 2024 dell'Accademia di architettura USI è stato dedicato a Basilea, città di cultura e industria, che sta subendo una profonda trasformazione: l’industria chimico-farmaceutica viene gradualmente sostituita da poli biotecnologici e la maggior parte delle ex-aree produttive subirà nuove destinazioni d’uso. Nei prossimi quindici anni si stima che verranno creati nuovi quartieri per oltre 20mila abitanti e 40mila posti di lavoro.

Ogni atelier di progettazione, sotto la direzione del prof. Quintus Miller, ha preso in esame una specifica arteria urbana e sviluppato una strategia per collegare i differenti quartieri. Le proposte individuali degli studenti su programmi e progetti concreti hanno dato forma urbana e architettonica a questa visione.
Nell’insieme dei quasi 150 progetti di Diploma emerge la possibile immagine di Basilea 2035.

The 2024 Diploma of the Academy of Architecture USI was dedicated to Basel, a city of culture and industry, which is undergoing a profound transformation: the chemical-pharmaceutical industry is gradually being replaced by biotechnology clusters and most of the former production areas will undergo new uses.
Over the next fifteen years, it is estimated that new neighbourhoods for more than 20,000 inhabitants and 40,000 jobs will be created.

Under the direction of Prof. Quintus Miller each Design Studio focused on a specific urban artery, developing strategies to connect these different neighbourhoods.
Students proposed concrete programs and projects, shaping the urban and architectural landscape of Basel's future.
Collectively, the nearly 150 Diploma projects paint a possible picture of Basel in 2035.
