È passato un anno da quando il coronavirus ha imposto all'università di passare all'insegnamento a distanza. Come Servizio carriere vogliamo ricordare a tutti gli studenti che ci siamo e che continuiamo a supportarvi, anche da remoto!
Abbiamo adattato e portato online molte nostre attività e abbiamo avviato nuovi servizi, eventi ed attività sfruttando le opportunità offerte dal digitale.
In questa newsletter, che esce esattamente un anno dopo la prima, vogliamo illustrarvi tutte le attività e i servizi che offriamo a supporto di voi studenti USI per aiutarvi a pianificare al meglio il vostro futuro professionale anche in questa situazione particolare ma ricca comunque di nuovi spunti e opportunità.

Durante questo anno molto particolare, il nostro servizio ha continuato a pubblicare settimanalmente offerte di stage e lavoro sulla banca dati online (CareerGate). Numerose, anche più dello scorso anno, sono state le opportunità di stage e lavoro, in Svizzera o all’estero, per studenti ed alumni USI.

A partire da questa settimana è nuovamente accessibile alle aziende registrate nel nostro database (ca. 1200) il CV Book online con i curricula degli studenti Master USI e dei neolaureati USI. L’obiettivo è di facilitare ancora di più i nostri studenti e alumni nella ricerca di un lavoro terminati studi.

Il nostro Servizio è a disposizione per aiutarvi individualmente a preparare o migliorare il vostro dossier di candidatura. Potete richiedere un cv check individuale o un incontro di orientamento professionale, che verrà svolto online e su appuntamento.

A partire da questo semestre primaverile, il servizio collabora con la Prof.ssa Bostock per offrire a studenti e alumni USI la possibilità di rivedere il proprio dossier di candidatura (cv e lettera di motivazione) in lingua inglese (standard US/UK, impostazione, vocabolario, ...). Make no mistakes, get professional advice!

Il vostro percorso di studi prevede uno stage curricolare? Avete già trovato dove svolgere l'attività lavorativa? Potete registrare il vostro stage sul portale del Servizio carriere, dovre troverete tutti i passaggi su come deve avvenire la registrazione e la convalida per l’ottenimento dei relativi ECTS.
Non dimenticate di verificare anche le Direttive e la Tabella dei requisiti stage curricolare del vostro percorso di studi.

L'Agenzia Nazionale Movetia ha confermato che continuerà a finanziare stage all'estero, con borse SEMP (Student Exchange Mobility Program). Trovate sul nostro sito tutte le informazioni necessarie sui requisiti necessari per richiedere una borsa SEMP per stage all'estero.

A partire dal prossimo anno accademico, numerose le novità per chi decide di intraprendere uno stage all'estero durante il periodo di studi. Tra queste si trovano:
- Blended mobility (stage svolto sia in ufficio sia in home working);
- Nuovo metodo di calcolo mensilità borsa;
- Borsa anche per stage svolti fuori dall'UE;
- Premio "Green Mobility" (per chi fa commuting dalla host country con mezzo di trasporto pubblico).
Tutte queste novità verranno pubblicate sul nostro sito in giugno!

Se il vostro programma prevede uno stage curricolare e se avete avuto problemi a svolgerlo a causa della pandemia Covid-19, l’USI vi dà in alcuni programmi la possibilità di sostituire o integrare lo stage con una attività alternativa. Verificate quali alternative allo stage curricolare è possibile svolgere e verificate con il vostro Direttore di Master/Tutor Accademico se questa opzione è ancora attiva nel vostro percorso di studi.

Il Servizio carriere organizza ogni semestre, insieme a professionisti delle Risorse Umane delle realtà con cui collaboriamo, una serie di incontri di orientamento professionale su strumenti e modalità di ingresso e avvio di carriera per affrontare al meglio questo fondamentale passaggio da accademia a mondo del lavoro.

Si è tenuto il 4 Marzo, l’evento informativo del DFAE con testimonianze sui concorsi di ammissione alle carriere trasferibili nei seguenti dipartimenti: Diplomazia, Cooperazione internazionale e Affari consolari, gestione e finanze (KBF).

Si è tenuta martedì 27 aprile la presentazione online di EY, dove Emanuele Palmas (Manager, Technology Risk EMEIA Financial Services Consulting) ha presentato la loro Cloud Strategy 2021: Cloud business Case for Change in Banking. Sono anche state illustrate quali possibilità di entrata nel mondo del lavoro offre EY ai nostri studenti.

Il prossimo 25 maggio, EF Education illustrerà in dettaglio quali sono le attività e differenze tra il ruolo di SEO (Search Enginee Optimization) e quello di SEM (Search Engine Marketing): due ruoli cardine che hanno aiutato lo sviluppo del digital marketing.

Giovedì 27 maggio Accenture Digital presenta i nuovi sviluppi e le opportunità offerte dall’E-commerce, accelerati anche dalla pandemia, nei vari settori. Verranno inoltre illustrate le skills necessarie per lavorare nell e-commerce e quali sono i ruoli professionali piu’ richiesti dagli employers in Svizzera e all’estero.

Quest'anno, per la prima volta, la sesta edizione della Notte Bianca delle Carriere @ USI, si è svolta completamente online (via Microsoft Teams).
L'evento ha visto la partecipazione di più di 100 professionisti (di cui 30 alumni USI) e di 30 realtà professionali, per un totale di 27 workshops svolti in contemporanea. Lato USI sono stati 400 gli studenti e i laureati che si sono connessi online, 20 i professori USI hanno introdotto e moderato i workshop e 46 studenti volontari che hanno fatto da Student Angels.
La prossima edizione si terrà il 25.11.2021 (finalmente on campus se le normative lo permetteranno).

La sezione Career Prospects dei siti dei Master dell'USI è stata aggiornata con i dati dell'ultima indagine "USI Master Survey 2020" dove vengono anche presentati i principali sbocchi professionali di ciascun percorso di studio e le realtà professionali che hanno assunto i laureati del vostro master . Troverete anche le "Career Stories" di alcuni ex studenti del vostro master con informazioni su dove lavorano.

In collaborazione con l’associazione BPW (Business Professional Women) e il Servizio pari opportunità ed in coordinamento con i Direttori dei Master, a partire dal semestre autunnale 2020/2021, è stato offerto un programma di Mentoring professionale per le studentesse al 2° anno di Master, con l’obiettivo di facilitare, attraverso un counselling professionale mirato ed individuale, l’ingresso nel mondo del lavoro di giovani laureati. In totale hanno partecipato 29 Mentees e 22 Mentors BPW.

Il Servizio carriereUSI ha partecipato alla realizzazione di un'indagine sulle aspettative professionali degli studenti di università svizzere insieme al Network dei servizi carriere delle università svizzere CSNCH (Career Service Network Svizzera). 209 studenti dell'USI hanno partecipato e il 24 marzo hanno preso parte ad un seminario ad hoc atto a spiegare nel dettaglio il profilo professionale emerso dalla loro partecipazione al questionario.

Gli studenti del corso "Data Analytics for Finance" sotto la guida del Professor Peter Gruber si sono cimentati con la visualizzazione dei dati delle Indagini laureati condotte dal 2002 al 2020. I 3 migliori progetti sono stati premiati e continueranno la collaborazione con il nostro servizio.

A partire dal prossimo anno accademico, il Servizio carriere mette a disposizione una borsa di studio per uno/a studente/-essa USI che desidera intraprendere un'esperienza di volontariato all’estero tramite AIESEC Lugano. Il bando con i requisiti per partecipare verrà pubblicato sul nostro sito e sul sito di AIESEC Lugano.

Si è conclusa a dicembre 2020 la 17a indagine sull'inserimento professionale dei laureati dell'USI. L'indagine ha coinvolto 1992 alumni USI che hanno conseguito un Master Biennale nelle 4 facoltà di Architettura, Comunicazione, cultura e società, Economia ed Informatica tra il 2015 e il 2019. Hanno completato l'indagine 1104 (55.4%). I risultati globali sono consultabili sul sito Alumni e i dettagli per Master nelle rispettive pagine Master Career Prospects.

Avviati nell’autunno 2020, sfruttando il digitale, i Digital Alumni Talk sono incontri on line con laureati/e USI che hanno maturato esperienza professionale in diversi ruoli e settori e destinati a studenti USI interessati ad una visione di prima mano sui diversi potenziali percorsi di carriera.

Anche quest'anno la Master Info Week si è svolta completamente online ed ha visto la partecipazione di ben 48 alumni, che hanno portato la loro testimonianza di studio e lavoro. I video sono disponibili sul nostro sito, nella sezione delle Career Stories.
L'edizione primaverile si terrà dal 19 al 21 aprile 2021, sempre online.

Sul nostro portale potete trovare più di 300 testimonianze di carriere di alumni e alumnae USI, che lavorano in realtà professionali sia a livello nazionale sia internazionale.
Da poco sono state introdotte anche le testimonianze in video.
Potete trovare tutte le Career Stories suddivise per Azienda, Programma di Studio, Anno di Laurea e Cognome.

Nonostante il periodo particolare, continuano - ora online - gli incontri di networking degli USI Alumni Chapters, gruppi di alumni USI che vivono e lavorano nella stessa area geografica e che vogliono rimanere in contatto tra di loro e con l'USI.
 Gli incontri sono aperti a tutti i laureati e gli studenti dell'USI che visitano, si trasferiscono o sono interessati alla specifica area geografica.
I prossimi meetings si terranno in Brasile (Sao Paolo), Francia (Parigi) e Argentina (Buenos Aires); maggiori dettagli saranno presto online!

Per favorire il networking tra studenti e laureati dello stesso Paese e promuovere l’integrazione con i Chapter Alumni già esistenti nel mondo, sono stati avviati i Chapter degli Studenti Internazionali (all’USI gli studenti internazionali provengono da circa 100 paesi nel mondo). Prima dell'arrivo della pandemia si sono svolti i chapters di Iran, India, Cina e Germania. Appena la situazione sanitaria lo permetterà, in programma ci sono gli incontri con studenti provenienti da Russia, America e Romania.

In occasione dei 25 anni dell'USI, il servizio Alumni ha deciso di festeggiare, durante un lungo weekend, il primo quarto di secolo della nostra università con una Reunion dedicata a tutti gli oltre 10,000 laureati delle 5 facoltà.

It has been a year since the coronavirus forced the university to switch to distance learning. As the USI Career Service, we want to remind all students that we are here and continue to support you, even remotely!
We have adapted and brought many of our activities online and have initiated new services, events and activities by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digital.
In this newsletter, which comes out exactly one year after the first one, we want to show you all the activities and services we offer to support USI students to help you plan your professional future better, even in this particular situation, which is nevertheless full of new ideas and opportunities.

During this very particular year, our service has continued to publish weekly internship and job offers on the online database (CareerGate) and there have been many, even more than last year, internship and job opportunities, in Switzerland or abroad, for USI students and alumni.

Starting from this week, our CV Book will again be accessible to the companies registered in our database (about 1200). The hope is to help even more of our students and alumni in their job search at the end of their studies.
If you already uploaded your CV on the CareerGate platform, now you can add it on our new CV Book; if you still did not upload your resume, now you can do it and directly post it on the CV Book.

Our Service is available to help you prepare or improve your application dossier. You can request a one-to-one CV check or a career counseling meeting, which will be carried out online, by appointment, by video call.

Starting from this spring semester, the Career service collaborates with Prof. Bostock to offer USI students and alumni the possibility to revise their application dossier (CV and motivation letter) in English (US/UK standards, setting, vocabulary, ...). Make no mistakes, get professional advice!

Does your Bachelor/Master degree include a curricular internship? Have you already found an employer? Then you can register your internship on the Career Service portal, where you will find all the steps on how the registration and also the validation (get the ECTS) should take place.
Don't forget to check also the Guidelines and the Table of Requirements.

The Movetia National Agency has confirmed that it will continue to fund internships abroad, with SEMP (Student Exchange Mobility Program) grants. Find all the necessary information on our website about the requirements for applying for an SEMP grant for internships abroad.

Starting from next academic year, the National Agency Movetia has introduced several new features for those who decide to undertake an internship abroad during their studies. These include:
- Blended mobility (internship carried out both in the office in the host country and in home working);
- New method of calculating the grant;
- Possibility of using the scholarship also for internships carried out outside the EU;
- “Green Mobility" award (for those who do A-R from the host country by public transport).
All this news will be published on our website by June!

If your Bachelor/Master program includes a curricular internship and you have had problems doing it due to the Covid-19 pandemic, USI gives you the option to replace or supplement the internship with an alternative activity. Check to see what alternatives to the curricular internship are available and find out whether your Master's Director/Academic Tutor still approves this option.

Every semester the Career Service organizes, together with Human Resources professionals from the companies we collaborate with, a series of career guidance meetings on tools and methods for entering and starting a career in order to better meet this fundamental transition from the academic world to the world of work.

Virtual 45-minutes meetings with potential employers, during which company employees (usually from AI, Informatics, Data Science or FinTech) talk about their work and answer to students’ questions.

Held on March 4, the information event of the FDFA included testimonies on the admission competitions in the following departments: Diplomacy, International Cooperation and Consular Affairs, Management and Finance (KBF).

EY's online presentation was held on Tuesday, April 27, where Emanuele Palmas (Manager, Technology Risk EMEIA Financial Services Consulting) presented their Cloud Strategy 2021: Cloud business Case for Change in Banking. They also illustrated what possibilities of jobs and internships EY offers to our students.

On 25 May, EF Education will explain in detail what are the activities and differences between the role of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing): two pivotal roles that have helped the development of digital marketing.

On Thursday, 27 May, Accenture Digital will present the new developments and opportunities offered by e-commerce, a field that boosted with the pandemic, in the various sectors. It will also illustrate the skills needed to work in e-commerce and the most sought after professional roles by employers in Switzerland and abroad.

This year, for the first time, the sixth edition of the Long Night of Career @ USI was held 100% online (on Microsoft Teams).
Despite understandable initial doubts, the event went off without a hitch and had an unprecedented response. In fact, more than 100 professionals (of which 30 were USI alumni) from 30 different companies took part in it, for a total of 27 workshops held simultaneously. 20 USI professors made themselves available during the workshops and our USI students and alumni participated in large numbers (400 registrations). 46 students volunteered to act as Student Angels.
The next edition will be held (on campus, if possible) on Nov. 25th, 2021.

The Career Prospects section of the USI Master's websites has been updated with data from the latest "USI Master Survey 2020" where you will also find the main professional outlets of each study path and the professional fields that have hired the graduates of your master . You will also find the "Career Stories" of some of them.

In collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Service and the BPW (Business Professional Women) association, and in coordination with the Directors of the Masters, from the autumn semester 2020/2021, a Professional Mentoring programme has been offered to female students enrolled in the 2nd year Masters, with the aim of facilitating the entry of new graduates into the world of work through targeted and individual professional counseling. In total, 29 Mentees and 22 BPW Mentors took part in this first edition.

The Career Service took part in a survey on professional expectations carried out by CSNCH (Career Service Network Switzerland). 209 USI students participated and on March 24 they were able to take part in an ad hoc seminar to explain in detail the professional profile that emerged from their participation in the questionnaire.

The students of the course "Data Analytics for Finance" under the guidance of Professor Peter Gruber ventured into data visualization of the Graduate Surveys conducted from 2002 to 2020. The 3 best projects were awarded and will continue their collaboration with our service.

Starting from the next academic year, the Career Service is offering a scholarship to a USI student who wishes to undertake a volunteer experience abroad through AIESEC in Lugano. The announcement with the requirements to get the scholarship will be published on our website and on the AIESEC in Lugano website.

The 17th USI graduate job placement survey concluded in December 2020. The survey involved 1992 USI alumni who earned a two-year Master's degree in the four faculties of Architecture, Communication, Culture and Society, Economics and Computer Science between 2015 and 2019. 1104 (55.4%) completed the survey. Overall results can be found on the Alumni website and details by Master's degree on the respective Master Career Prospects pages.

The Digital Alumni Talks is a series of online meetings with USI alumni, who have gained professional experience in different roles and sectors, to give USI students and recent graduates a first look into the different potential career paths.

Master Info Week took place completely online this year as well, and was attended by 48 alumni, who brought their testimony of study and work. The videos are available on our website, in the Career Stories section.
The Spring edition will take place completely online from April 19th until April 21th, 2021.

On our website you can find more than 300 testimonials of careers of USI alumni, working in both national and international professional fields.
Recently we have also introduced video testimonials.
You can find all the Career Stories divided by Company, Study Program, Year of Graduation and Last Name.

USI Alumni Chapters are groups of USI graduates who live and work in the same area, willing to get to know and stay in touch with each other and with USI. The meetings are open to all USI graduates and students who visit, relocate or are interested in the specific geographical area.
Despite the particular period, in the next few months chapters will be organized in Brazil (Sao Paolo), France (Paris) and Argentina (Buenos Aires). The details will be soon online!

To promote networking between students and graduates from the same country and to promote integration with the 33 Alumni Chapters already existing around the world, new USI Chapters of International Students have been launched (there are students from over 90 countries at USI). Student groups from China, India, Iran and Germany already met before the pandemic started.
The hope is to resume holding these on-campus meetings in the near future; the upcoming events will be for USA, Russia and Romania student chapters.

On the occasion of USI's 25th anniversary, the Alumni Service has decided to celebrate with a long-weekend Reunion dedicated to all the over 10,000 graduates.
