Are you going to publish your research results in a journal? Go for an Open Access publication! Open Access is not only good practice in academic work, but also mandatory for SNSF- or European-funded research (Green OA also accepted).
- Gold OA: article freely accessible for everyone in a gold OA journal- Hybrid OA: publication in a subscription-based journal which offers an OA option (only if USI has an agreement in place with the publisher)- Green OA: self-archiving of a version of an article in a freely accessible repository
The SNSF covers the publication costs of gold open access articles (related to SNSF-funded research), open access books and open access book chapters.USI covers the publication costs of gold open access articles not related to SNSF-funded research.Costs for hybrid OA are not covered.See details
The USI libraries have recently signed new publishing agreements with scientific publishers IEEE and PLOS. These agreements combine access to the publishers' periodicals with the option to publish free of charge in OA while minimizing cost increases.
