The European Research Council (ERC) has published its definitive Work Programme, defining the conditions for participation, budgets and deadlines. ERC will therefore be maintained under the framework programme “Horizon Europe” as well, continuing to fund excellent frontier bottom-up research.
ERC Grants fund principal investigators of any nationality and any discipline, presenting bottom-up projects that have a groundbreaking, high-risk/high-gain nature. No thematic priorities are set. The only criterion is excellence, of both the researcher and of the proposed project.
ERC Starting Grants support excellent emergent researchers with 2 to 7 years after their PhD, having an early scientific track-record showing great potential.Up to EUR 1.5 mio are available for projects of up to 5 years.
ERC Consolidator Grants support excellent researchers with 7 to 12 years after their PhD who are consolidating their academic career and wishing to set up their own research team.Up to EUR 2 mio are available for projects of up to 5 years.
ERC Advanced Grants support established professors who are leaders in their field and who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.Up to EUR 2.5 mio are available for project of up to 5 years.
