USI has entered 2 new "read & publish" agreements with scientific publishers SAGE and Wiley. The agreements were negotiated by swissuniversities and they combine full access to the publishers' journals with the possibility to publish free of charge in OA while minimising cost increases.
Corresponding authors affiliated with USI can publish free Open Access (OA) articles in over 900 "hybrid" journals, or get a 20% discount on APCs of Gold Open Access journals. In addition, reading access to all SAGE jounals in the Communication collection (FTC) is guaranteed.
USI researchers can publish OA articles free of charge in more than 1450 journals of the publisher Wiley, provided they are corresponding authors of the article and under contract with USI. The agreement applies to all articles accepted after April 30, 2021 and applies to all Wiley "hybrid" journals
Author makes the final version of an article freely and permanently accessible for everyone in a gold open access journal. In some cases, the author pays an Article Processing Charge, while there is no subscription to access to the journal.
Publication of an article in a subscription-based journal which offers an OA option that authors can chose if they wish, by paying additional fees (not funded!). Thanks to read&publish agreements reached with some publishers, for USI researchers publication is free of charge in selected journals.
Self-archiving of a version of an article into a repository making it freely accessible for everyone. The version that can be deposited into a repository is dependent on the funder or publisher, which might also set an embargo period.
