One of USI’s priority is to disseminate its research findings in the most efficient way possible. USI encourages the publication of research results in OA, pursuing the goals set by swissuniversities’ Swiss National strategy on OA and by aligning itself to the SNSF strategy.
USI funds:- publication costs for Gold OA articles, if they are not covered by the SNSF (see below), provided that they are published in well established peer-reviewed journals;- costs for submission fees (irrespective of whether the paper is later accepted or not).
USI has reached specific agreements regarding the price of APCs with some publishers. This allows publication in Gold or Hybrid OA mode for free or with a discount in many journals. Please consult the full list for information on the status of each agreement.
- corresponding author must be employed by USI: Prof., researchers and PhD students Excluded: Collaborators of affiliated institutes, lecturers and PD- BIOMED: full professors and assistant professors in clinical medicineExcluded: adjunct professors, private lecturers, clinical practice teachers
The SNSF supports the publication of articles related to an SNSF-funded project in OA journals and OA books (monographs and anthologies) and covers APCs or BPCs. The SNFS doesn’t cover optional OA charges (hybrid OA), and extra costs (e.g. color fees, printing, proof-reading and translating costs).
Funding requests need to be submitted through the new SNSF Chronoshub portal. Researchers can publish their OA articles via the platform, where they can also request the direct payment of APC fees. Please note: you no longer have to request OA funding via mySNF.
