	SNSF Starting Grants integrative call

The SNSF has launched the SNSF Starting Grant Replacement call 2023. This new call integrates the SNSF Professorial Fellowships (resulting from Eccellenza and Prima schemes). As its predecessors, this call is aimed at outstanding researchers who are on their way to becoming professors.

Eligibility window changes

Please note the change in the eligibility window: candidates must have between 3 to 8 years of research experience after their PhD degree, (5 – 12 years after the medical degree).

Main differences with ERC Starting Grant

- candidates must use the new SNSF CV format. - the full research plan is already evaluated in phase 1 of the evaluation. Max length: 15 pages and 60'000 characters. - applicants whose application for an SNSF Starting Grant was rejected may apply only once more for an SNSF Starting Grant.

Expected timeline, budget and duration

The call opens on the 1st of November 2022 and closes on the 1st of February 2023. Applicants can request a budget of up to 1.8 million CHF (including the grantee's salary), for a period of 5 years.

Internal procedure

The procedure remains the same: internal candidates without a professorial position, as well as external candidates have to undergo an internal assessment, including an interview with faculty members, to receive the university’s support.
