On behalf of the Swiss government, the SNSF is planning to launch an SNSF Starting Grants call 2024. The call is scheduled to open in November 2023. More updates will follow soon but researchers can already start preparing their applications. The following information is provisional.
The scheme is open to researchers with an excellent track-record who want to conduct a ground-breaking and ambitious project. Applicants must show research independence and have already contributed to impactful research in their field.
Applicants must have between 2 years and 8 years research experience after the date of the PhD defence.For applicants with a Medical Degree: at least 3 years of clinical work + 2 years of research experience, and no more than 12 years after obtaining the medical degree.
USI welcomes candidates particularly coming from outside. Interested external applicants and internal candidates without a professorial position must send their dossier (CV+publication list, cover letter, support letter by USI professor) for the internal assessment by the 15th of November to SRIT.
The call will most probably open in November 2023. The call deadline will be on the 1st of February (to be confirmed).Deadline for the internal assessment: 15th of November.
Applicants can request a budget of up to CHF 1.8 million for a period of five years.Budget covers the applicant’s salary, personnel costs, equipment, research costs (such as travel, conferences, field expenses).
Applications include the research plan, the SNSF CV, requested budget and institution letter. The evaluation consists of 2 steps: first, panel members evaluate and rate the proposals. Selected applicants are then evaluated in a second phase, which includes international peer review and interviews.
