With the NCCRs, the SNSF promotes long-term research of the highest quality on topics of strategic importance for CH for up to 12 years. NCCRs are interdisciplinary and cross-institutional. They strengthen the funded research area and contribute to the long-term establishment of research priorities
The sixth NCCR call is now open. 6-9 new NCCRs are expected to be funded. NCCRs may run for 8-12 years, divided in 4-year phases, and request SNSF funding of CHF 8-20M for the first 4-year phase. Please read carefully the call document.
Directors and co-directors• with permanent position at a higher education research centre in CH. • internationally renowned with proven experience in research management. • backed by 1+ home institutions. All home institutions involved must make an adequate financial and structural contribution.
NCCRs must receive co-funding from home institutions and third parties. At USI, institutional support, matching funds and infrastructure are decided by the Rectorate. If you are interested in leading an NCCR as (co-)Director, fill out this form and submit it to benedetto.lepori@usi.ch by 1.12.2023.
Principal Investigators (PI) are responsible for one or several of the individual projects running within the NCCR. For the role of PI, the eligibility criteria of the SNSF Project Funding apply. USI strongly encourages researchers to get involved in NCCR proposals as PIs.
