After a period of standby, the negotiations between the EU and Switzerland have officially started in March 2024. The negotiations on association to EU R&I programmes (e.g. Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme, Erasmus+) are part of the negotiations on the overall package.
With the start of negotiations, the EU has put in place a transitional arrangement for 2024, allowing researchers in CH to participate in the ERC Advanced Grants 2024 call (ERC AdG).The call opens in May 24 and closes on 29 August 24. It is open to established researchers leaders in their field.
Proposals of researchers who apply to the ERC AdG 2024 with a Swiss host institution will be evaluated by the ERC Executive Agency. In case of approval, and if an association agreement is not in place by then, SERI will directly fund the projects.
Researchers in Switzerland will continue to participate in all other calls 2024 (collaborative projects) as “associated partners” with funding from the Swiss Government. It is not possible for them to participate in other mono-beneficiary calls in 2024.
In Spring 2024 the Federal Council will decide upon the other transitional measures, such as the SNSF Postdoctoral Fellowships, replacing the Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowships. We will inform you in due course, whether these measures will be discontinued or confirmed.
EU collaborative projects allow you to strengthen your R&I network, cooperate with a wide range of partners, including industry, companies and academia, and last but not least, become part of a solution to global challenges!
