The ERC Advanced Grant 2024 call is now open: researchers with a Swiss host institution can apply. ERC AdG are open to established, leading researchers in any field of research and award up to € 2.5 million for a period of 5 years for ground-breaking, ambitious long-term projects.
This call no longer includes the ‘high-risk/high-gain’ aspect. The main criterion is scientific excellence: both the project and the PI are evaluated, but ERCEA plans to weigh the proposal more than the achievements of the applicant. See the evaluation criteria on page 15 of the Info for Applicants
Differently from previous AdG calls, the CV and Track Record are presented in one single template of up to 4 pages. It includes a list of up to 10 research outputs. Applicants can add short narrative descriptions to explain the information provided
The scientific proposal is composed of Part B1 and Part B2. Both are submitted at the same time but evaluated at different steps. The templates of Part B1 and B2 that are provided in the submission system (Participant Portal) should be used. Contact us to receive the templates.
The Extended Synopsis (max. 5 pages) is a concise presentation of the scientific proposal, focusing on the ground-breaking nature of the project and its feasibility. Evaluated at Step 1.
The Scientific Proposal (max 14 pages) contains two sections, “State of the Art and Objectives”, and “Methodology”. Further sub-sections can be added. Evaluated at Step 2 by both the panel members and the external reviewers.
