This highly competitive program supports, with EUR 10M for 6 years, ground-breaking research proposed by teams of 2-4 investigators with complementary backgrounds to tackle ambitious problems that could not be addressed by the individual researchers.

With SPIRIT, the SNSF funds collaborations with researchers based in a country receiving development assistance with max. CHF 500K for 4 years. At least 30% of the budget must be allocated to the partner country/countries.
For joint research projects with non-European countries that show high or promising research potential. Stay tuned for new calls with Korea (on quantum at the end of 2024, early 2025), Japan (thematically open call in 2025) and India (call foreseen with the Department of Biotechnology and ICMR).
