The SNSF Starting Grant 2025 call opens on 15 October 2024 and closes on 15 January 2025. The USI internal deadline to obtain the institutional support is 1 October 2024.
The call is open to researchers who wish to lead an independent research project and direct their team in Switzerland.Applicants must not already hold a research-leading position as group leader or university professorship and, at the same time, have received significant third-party funding.
- PhD defence after 15.01.2017 + min. 2 years of postdoc research or medical degree after 15.01.2013 + min. 3 years of clinical work and 2 years of research.- Swiss link: Swiss nationality or 2 years of research in Switzerland or hold a Swiss Master’s or PhD.
To obtain the institutional support letter requested by the SNSF, internal and external applicants must send their dossier (CV incl. publication list, cover letter and support letter by USI professor) for the internal assessment by 01.10.24. Priority will be given to external candidates.
Max. CHF 1 million for project-related costs + the PI’s salary (unless already covered) for 5 years.Budget covers the PI’s salary, personnel costs, equipment and other research costs (such as travel, conferences, open research data costs).
The evaluation consists of 2 steps: first, SNSF panel members evaluate and rate the proposals. Selected applicants are then evaluated in a second phase, which includes international peer review and interviews.
