Innosuisse promotes science-based innovation projects carried out by research institutions with or without implementation partner, across thematic areas. The grant covers the researcher’s salary and some research costs, while the company provides at least the same amount of funding.
In 2023, CH-based researchers reviewed 810 and approved 367 applications (45% success rate). National funding remains a strong pillar of Innosuisse’s strategy, amounting to 50% of Innosuisse total budget
• Engineering: 54% (242 applications, 131 approved)• Life Sciences: 48% (191 applications, 92 approved)• Energy & Environment: 45% (122 applications, 55 approved)• ICT: 38% (149 applications, 57 approved)• Social Sciences & Business Management: 30% (106 applications, 32 approved)
By financing the Swiss part of the budget, Innosuisse allows you to participate in international calls by submitting a joint innovation project together with other applicants abroad. These include EUREKA, Eurostars, the EU partnerships thematic calls and Innosuisse bilateral calls.
Innosuisse received a striking number of 353 applications, evaluated 275 and approved 100. This demonstrates a growing interest in cross-border collaborations, with a strong rebound from 2022 when only 180 applications were submitted and 84 approved.
• Eurostars: no participation in Call 8 (Spring 2025) but resuming with Call 9 (Autumn 2025).• Eureka: focus only on the SMART cluster (2025) for advanced manufacturing. • Bilateral calls: last chanche to apply to the call with Brazil by 30.09;• Planned calls with Korea and Germany for 2025;
The Innosuisse Flagship Program is designed for large interdisciplinary projects tackling long-term challenges. National consortium consist of at least 3 research partners, of which at least one is an UAS and at least 2 implementation partners. Flagships are larger in terms of budget and duration.
