The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is currently preparing the implementation of the Swiss Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2027 (Roadmap 2027) in view to the 2029–2032 Federal Council Dispatch on the Promotion of Education, Research and Innovation.
The Roadmap serves for coordinating efforts at national level between Higher Education Institutions in CH, and is primarily used by the responsible bodies and institutions to set priorities for future long-term investments in planned national Research Infrastructures in the various research areas.
Swissuniversities is the body responsible for identifying new infrastructures supported by the cantonal universities and universities of applied sciences and arts.
Interested researchers are invited to submit a 2-page draft of the project idea by the end of February 2025. A template for project ideas is available on swissuniversities’ dedicated page.A full proposal has to be submitted by the beginning of May 2025.
Responsibility for building, financing and maintaining the infrastructures remains with the relevant higher education institutions and research institutes. The national roadmap is not an instrument for federal funding of infrastructures.
USI researchers and project leaders involved in the design of new national infrastructures or major upgrades of existing infrastructures are invited to contact Prof. Patrick Gagliardini, USI Pro-rector for Research, to express their interest in submitting project ideas.
