On 9 December 2024, Swissuniversities launched the 2025 Call for Cotutelles de thèse. With up to CHF 10K, these grants support PhD students enrolled at a Swiss university who want to have their dissertation co-supervised by a partner university located abroad (within the Bologna system + Israel).
At the call deadline, applicants must:• Be enrolled at a doctoral school of a Swiss institution;• Have spent min. 2 semesters at a Swiss institution;• Hold a valid Swiss residence permit.
• The grant cannot overlap with other funds already covering full mobility costs. • Applicants without a residence permit can apply if there is a consistent connection with the relevant Swiss higher education institution.• Applicants over 40 years old must submit a written justification to apply.
Submit your dossier to servizio.ricerca@usi.ch by the internal deadline:• Application form;• Support letter signed by USI supervisor;• Support letter signed by co-supervisor abroad;• Co-supervision agreement signed by USI supervisor and co-supervisor abroad.
Applications must be sent by email to cotutelles@swissuniversities.ch by 31 March 2025.Decisions are due in June 2025. Funds can cover expenses retroactively from April 1, 2024 provided there is a signed co-supervision agreement in place for that period.
