USI students and researchers have access to a wide range of databases made available by the institution. Access to individual databases is free, but some limitations may apply. Find information specific for each database on this webpage.
USI Research Data Manager provides support regarding the acquisition, management and storage of research data of any kind. In particular, data purchase and acquisition of personal, sensitive and confidential data are subject to internal procedures and have to be notified beforehand.
Costs for data procurement are eligible in SNSF applications as long as they are directly related to the research project. Costs for data curation and Open Research Data are also eligible (max. 10k per project, conditions apply). Costs need to be budgeted and justified in the application phase.
Additional information on funding dispositions and best practices concerning data procurement as well as Open Research Data can be found on the SNSF Project Funding guide available to all USI members (slides 30-31).
Costs for data procurement are eligible in individual or collaborative grants applications as long as they are directly related and necessary for the research project. These costs go under the “Other goods, works and services” category. Further details in the linked presentation (slides 20-21).
