On 10 November 2025 in Bern, Switzerland and the European Union signed the EU Programmes Agreement (EUPA), marking a landmark moment for collaboration in education, research, and innovation.

• Proposals submitted in 2025 and future ones, if approved, will be funded directly by the European Commission (EC)
• Swiss researchers can continue participating in ERC and MSCA calls
• Swiss institutions can act as coordinators in consortium projects.

Swiss-based applicants must apply to the calls as “beneficiary” (and not as “associated partner”). This is the only way to receive funding from the EC. For calls requiring participation in consortium, you must also include your budget in the total amount requested from the EC.

Horizon Europe (HE) is the EU main research & innovation funding programme (EUR 93.5B, 2021–2027). It tackles climate change, supports excellence in research, boosts EU competitiveness, creates jobs, and fosters collaboration to maximize the impact of research and innovation across Europe.

Check the Funding & Tenders Portal for open calls, ensure eligibility, build a collaborative consortium when required, and submit your proposal before the deadline. Contact the Research Service for help identifying the call best suited for you and to get admin & budget support for your application.

The ERC funds frontier research in any discipline. It welcomes proposals addressing new and emerging fields of research, or introducing unconventional, innovative approaches and scientific inventions. Applicants must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their proposal.
