Mobility opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers

 

USI Doctoral Mobility

Financial support for doctoral students matriculated at USI who are not employed in an ongoing SNSF project, for a 6 to 12 months research stay abroad during their PhD. Financial support of up to CHF 20'000 is available to cover travel and living costs, as well as conference and workshop fees.

This is an SNSF supplementary grant designed for PhD students employed in an ongoing SNSF-funded project who plan a research stay abroad lasting 6 to 12 months. The grant covers travel and living expenses, as well as participation costs for conferences and workshops, up to a maximum of CHF 20,000.

SNSF Postdoc.Mobility

The SNSF Postdoc.Mobility fellowship supports early-career postdoctoral researchers seeking to undertake a research stay abroad while strengthening their scientific network and academic independence in preparation for a future career in Switzerland.

Who can apply?

-CH citizenship,
-CH permanent settlement permit,
-marriage/partnership with a CH citizen, or
-a degree obtained from a CH institution and no prior postdoctoral position abroad.
In addition, they may submit a proposal from 6 months before up to 3 y after their doctoral thesis defence.

 

Funding and duration

The fellowship provides funding based on standard SNSF rates for living expenses, as well as possible contributions toward research and conference costs. Fellowships are awarded for a duration of 12 to 24 months, with an optional return phase in Switzerland lasting between 3 and 12 months.
