Funding for exchanges between science and society

Agora supports communication projects where scientists engage live with the public on their own research. Funding is available for small communication formats (Agora rolling call) or larger-scale initiatives (Agora call) for up to 3 years.

DEADLINE: 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE PROJECT START

Agora rolling call: max. CHF 50K

Projects with a budget of up to CHF 50K can be submitted at any time. Funding decisions are communicated within 4 months.

 

DEADLINE POSTPONED TO EARLY 2027

Agora call: max. CHF 200K

For Agora projects with a budget of up to CHF 200K, the submission deadline has been postponed to early 2027. The SNSF plans to introduce a rolling submission process for these projects, with no fixed deadline.

 

Who can apply

Researchers must be employed at least 20% at a Swiss higher education or research institution. The other applicant must be an expert from communication, knowledge transfer, culture, media and similar. The researchers themselves should mainly carry out direct communication with the public.

 

Eligible costs

Costs must be directly linked to the development and realisation of the project, e.g. personnel, Agora expert’s fee, materials, production, project management, project partners, subcontracting, advertising, distribution, publication and communication.
