Supplementary Measures in SNSF projects

What are SNSF Supplementary Measures?

SNSF Supplementary Measures are only available to SNSF grant holders and their personnel. By offering additional funding or facilitating conditions, they promote equal opportunities, career development, doctoral mobility or the transferring of the grant abroad.

Flexibility Grant

For doctoral students and postdocs, either holders of SNSF career grants or doctoral students/postdocs employed on SNSF-funded projects in CH, to cover childcare costs and/or the salary of a person who can replace them, allowing them, if they wish, to reduce their employment rate.

Gender equality grant

Eligible cost within SNSF grants enabling female doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, as holders of SNSF career grants or SNSF-funded doctoral/postdoctoral staff employed in CH, to receive up to CHF 1'000 per 12 months to support career development (mentoring, coaching, courses) and networking.

Mobility grants in projects

For CH-based doctoral students employed on an SNSF project to cover the costs of a single 6-12-month research stay abroad. Grants cover up to CHF 20'000 for travel, subsistence, host institution costs and fees for attending conferences + CHF 5'000 for each accompanying family member.

Deadline: anytime

Money follows Researcher (MfR)

SNSF grant holders moving abroad after being funded may continue research in CH remotely or transfer their research fully/partly. MfR can be applied:
-Projects: before award starts; if pre-start, year 1 only
-Careers: after year 1 only; max 12 months
No additional funding or extensions thereafter.
