Funding for mobility for doctoral students and postdocs

USI Doctoral Mobility

Financial support for doctoral students matriculated at USI who are not employed in an ongoing SNSF project, for a 6 to 12 months research stay abroad during their PhD. Financial support of up to CHF 20'000 is available to cover travel and living costs, as well as conference and workshop fees.

Swissunivesities Cotutelle de thèse

Swissuniversities supports the co-supervision of PhD theses between a Swiss university and a university abroad (Europe/Israel). The funding covers up to CHF 10'000 for travel and living expenses for both the PhD student and the PhD supervisors. PhD students must be enrolled at a Swiss institution.

SERI Leading House with Asia

Funding of CHF 20'000 is available for reciprocal PhD mobility of 2 weeks to 6 months between Switzerland and a recognized university in a partner country in the Asia-Pacific region. Proposals must be submitted by the PhD supervisor in Switzerland. Co-funding is required.

SNSF mobility fellowships

 

Deadline: 3 February 2026 at 17:00

SNSF Postdoc.Mobility

Funding for researchers holding a doctorate (or completing it within 9 months after the deadline) to conduct research abroad. It covers research costs (up to CHF 5'000 per year), a flat rate for living and travel expenses, and conference costs for a 24-month stay abroad.

Mobility Grants in SNSF projects

Mobility grants within projects are intended for PhD students employed in an ongoing SNSF project who wish to conduct research abroad for 6 to 12 months. The funding can cover travel and living costs, as well as conference and workshop fees, up to a maximum of CHF 20'000.
