The MSCA is the EU’s reference programme for doctoral education, postdoctoral research, and research development through staff mobility. The focus is on innovation across all scientific disciplines, as well as on transnational, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral mobility.

For new PhD programmes run by institutions in min. 3 EU Member States (MS) or Associated Countries (AC), including CH. Involvement of non-academic partners is strongly encouraged. DNs train creative, entrepreneurial and highly skilled PhD students.

RAISE DN is a pilot call with dedicated funding supporting doctoral networks focused on “AI in science”. Funded projects will also benefit from Resource for AI Science in Europe, a virtual institute pooling key resources (computing power, data, talent, funding) to drive development of frontier AI.

The grant covers PhD fellowships of 3-36 months (3-48 mos. for joint doctorates) including:
• Living (+163.7% for CH)
• Relocation (“mobility”)
• Family costs (if appl.)
• Project-related costs
• OH (€1200 per month)
PhDs students must have an employment contract with the recruiting institution.

• EXCELLENCE 50%: scientific ambition; interdisciplinary & intersectoral approach
• IMPACT 30%: human development, dis. & exp. of results
• IMPLEMENTATION 20%: recruitment process, supervision, overall feasibility
Proposals scoring ≥70% may be funded. Resubmission is allowed only for scores ≥80%.

MSCA COFUND co-finances doctoral and postdoctoral programmes in EU MS/AC. It promotes MSCA best practices, including international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary training, mobility, open recruitment and fair working conditions for researchers at at all career stages.

MSCA PF support young researchers in any discipline to carry out their research abroad. For European Fellowship (EF) the research must be in EU/CH. For Global Fellowship (GF) the research must be in a Third Country with a mandatory return phase in EU/CH.

To co-finance postdoc positions under a talent recruitment programme in any discipline divided into 2 phases:
• Phase1: (2–3 yrs.) salary, research costs, & OH fully covered by the EU
• Phase2: (2 yrs.) fully funded by the institution
It aims to reduce the precarity of researchers’ careers.

MSCA SE promote innovative international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration in research and innovation through short-term exchanges (1-12 mos.) of PhD studets, postdocs, researchers, technical, administrative and managerial staff supporting R&I activities.

MSCA & Citizens brings research closer to the public through the European Researchers’ Night, organised by 1 or more organisations. Funding supports events of up to 2 days & “Researchers at Schools” activities, connecting researchers of all levels directly with teachers & pupils
