In 2023, in response to requests from past editions' participants, we are introducing three new courses:• Designing and Conducting Social-scientific Experiments • Conducting a Grounded Theory Study • Web Scraping and Data Mining in R
You will learn what research questions can be addressed using a wide range of experimental methods. The course will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of designing and conducting survey, laboratory, online, and field experiments.
Grounded theory is a methodology used by social scientists to explore, describe, and understand social phenomena from the perspectives of those being studied. This workshop is an introduction to grounded theory methodology with a ‘how-to’ practical focus.
You will learn the core concepts and methodologies for web scraping and data mining approaches in R, including the sources and types of online data that can be accessed by social scientists. You will also develop new skills in how such data can be scraped/harvested/extracted.
