Lifestyle Innovation Day took place at LAC in Lugano (CH), where PhD Student Francesca Manna presented her research alongside Professor Cantoni and their partners at VF Corporation! Their project highlighted a semester-long collaboration using eye-tracking technology to study user engagement.
Congratulations to Giorgia Insabato and Lorenzo Destefani, DFC alumni, who were awarded this prize for their theses. This is the 3rd consecutive year alumni of the DFC master's win!
From May 21st to 23rd, the DFC students took part in a study tour in Prato and Florence, managed and supervised by Dr. Nadzeya Sabatini. During the trip, they learned about textile heritage, craftsmanship, and brand identity by visiting Museo del Tessuto, Rifò, Artex, Stefano Bemer, and IL BISONTE.
The DFC master class visited Tessitura Enrico Sironi in Gallarate to learn about the textile manufacturing processes, reflecting on how innovation and tradition can coexist. Additionally, they met with Olga Sironi, an alumna of the program and current Sales and Marketing Specialist at the firm.
The DFC master class got to discuss how Coccinelle develops different brand experiences, from trunk show events dedicated to loyal clients to exclusive launch dinners, press days, after-parties, etc. Learning about how a contemporary fashion brand builds communication across multiple touchpoints.
During the DFC master class visit to the BertO showroom, students had the chance to understand how design, research, and production are strongly interconnected. Students had a chance to explore how to translate tactile sensations into the digital space!
In February, our team traveled to Padova (IT), where we met with the CREA Agriculture Environment Laboratory and brought silkworms back to USI. Over the next two months, we saw them grow from eggs to silkworms to cocoons to moths! Check out our video to see more.
