L'USI ha ufficialmente posto la firma sulla Magna Charta Universitatum 2020, documento che rappresenta la dichiarazione universale dei principi fondamentali dell'educazione superiore. La cerimonia si è tenuta a Londra a metà novembre. Per l'ateneo ha partecipato la Prorettrice Sonja Hildebrand.

USI e SUPSI hanno ospitato la presentazione delle nuove misure LInn a sostegno dell’innovazione nelle PMI ticinesi. USI ha illustrato esempi di collaborazione con le imprese, confermando il ruolo chiave della ricerca applicata nello sviluppo economico del territorio.

Nel 75° anniversario del riconoscimento della Repubblica Popolare Cinese da parte della Svizzera, lo IOR e l'IOSI-EOC hanno rappresentato la ricerca oncologica elvetica ad un evento a Pechino. Al centro, le collaborazioni con la Cina e nuovi accordi dedicati anche all'uso dell'IA in oncologia.

L'interruzione globale dei servizi Cloudflare ha reso inaccessibili milioni di siti e applicazioni. Il Professore dell'USI Antonio Carzaniga ha spiegato al Corriere del Ticino cause, rischi e lezioni di un evento che rivela la vulnerabilità delle infrastrutture digitali su cui si basa Internet.

La Generazione Z sta guidando nuove forme di protesta in diversi Paesi, organizzandosi soprattutto sui social media. Alberto Bitonti, Docente presso la Facoltà di comunicazione, cultura e società, ha analizzato al Telegiornale della RSI le radici e le caratteristiche di questa mobilitazione globale.

Anche quest’anno, dal 25 novembre al 10 dicembre, si svolgerà la Campagna dei "16 giorni di attivismo contro la violenza fondata sul genere", per contrastare la violenza di genere. Questa edizione la campagna porrà l'attenzione sul tema "Violenza di genere e disabilità".

Un recente studio pubblicato su Scientific Reports, firmato tra gli altri dalla Professoressa Antonietta Mira, il Professor Andrea Raballo e Federico Ravenda dell'USI, mostra come la semantica delle domande dei test psicologici può influenzarne la struttura prima ancora della raccolta dati.

Sabato 29 novembre dalle 9 alle 16, presso l’Auditorio del Campus Ovest di Lugano, si terrà una giornata dedicata alla giustizia riparativa organizzata dalle Prof.sse Astrologo e Greco, che proporrà una riflessione aperta su responsabilità, protezione e partecipazione. L'iscrizione è obbligatoria.

Venerdì 21 novembre l'USI ha preso parte al TecDay del Liceo cantonale di Lugano 3, un'iniziativa della SATW che avvicina gli studenti alle scienze tecniche. Docenti e ricercatori dell'ateneo hanno proposto moduli interattivi dedicati a informatica, astronomia, matematica applicata e IA.

Giovedì 27 novembre l'USI ospiterà un pomeriggio di studi dedicato al nuovo Accordo sull'elettricità tra Svizzera e Unione Europea, un dossier chiave per il futuro energetico del Paese. L'evento, aperto al pubblico, si terrà dalle 13:30 alle 19:00 presso l'aula 355 del Campus Ovest di Lugano.

La 14ª edizione dell’Executive MBA è iniziata lo scorso 14 novembre con una giornata di orientamento, seguita dal modulo Leadership. Tra testimonianze di ex studenti, un gruppo internazionale e un forte focus su etica e sostenibilità, il programma punta a formare leader responsabili.

Il Fondo nazionale svizzero (FNS) ripropone il suo concorso annuale di foto e video scientifici, aperto a ricercatrici e ricercatori attivi in tutta la Svizzera. Il termine per la presentazione dei lavori è fissato per il 2 febbraio 2026.

Mercoledì 3 dicembre i 10 finalisti dell’edizione corrente dell’acceleratore saliranno sul palco del Palazzo dei Congressi per presentare la propria startup e competere per il premio assegnato dal pubblico. La cerimonia di premiazione dei vincitori si concluderà con un aperitivo di networking.

L’Open Innovation permette di accelerare lo sviluppo e l’innovazione. Per favorire una cooperazione equilibrata tra il settore accademico e quello aziendale è fondamentale stabilire accordi preliminari e gestire con attenzione la proprietà intellettuale.

Giovedì 27 novembre dalle 16:45, presso l'Aula magna del Campus Ovest di Lugano, si terrà il kick-off PIRM. Gli studenti USI potranno conoscere sfide reali legate alla sostenibilità utili per la tesi, e dialogare con professionisti e docenti. Posti limitati, iscrizione obbligatoria.

Dal 12 al 14 novembre si è tenuto il primo Seminario alpino della Casa della sostenibilità dedicato alla sostenibilità sociale. Studentesse e studenti hanno vissuto tre giorni immersivi tra natura e riflessioni sulla sostenibilità sociale e ambientale, nella cornice di un contesto alpino.

Giovedì 4 dicembre alle ore 18:30 a L’ideatorio di Cadro sarà proposto un viaggio nel planetario che permette di comprendere il legame tra arte e scienza. Due discipline apparentemente lontane, ma che in realtà esplorano entrambe il mondo che ci circonda. Seguito da aperitivo.

Veronica Testa ha ottenuto il Master in Economia e politiche internazionali all'USI nel 2024. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Local Parliamentary Assistant presso l'European Parliament.

On the 75th anniversary of Switzerland's official recognition of the People's Republic of China, the IOR and IOSI-EOC represented Swiss cancer research at an event in Beijing. The focus was on collaborations with China and new agreements dedicated to the use of AI in oncology.

Gen Z is leading new forms of protest in various countries, organising mainly on social media. Alberto Bitonti, lecturer at the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society, analysed the roots and characteristics of this global mobilisation on RSI's Telegiornale.

Also this year, from 25 November to 10 December, the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign will take place to combat gender-based violence. This year, the campaign focuses on the issue of violence experienced by people with disabilities.

A recent study published in Scientific Reports, authored by Professor Antonietta Mira, Professor Andrea Raballo, and Federico Ravenda of USI, among others, shows how the semantics of psychological test questions can influence their structure even before data collection.

A day dedicated to restorative justice, organised by Prof. Astrologo and Prof. Greco, will be held on Saturday, 29 November, from 9 am to 4 pm, at the West Campus Lugano Auditorium, offering an open discussion on responsibility, protection and participation. Registration is required.

On Friday, 21 November, USI took part in TecDay at Liceo cantonale Lugano 3, an initiative by SATW that introduces students to technical sciences. Lecturers and researchers from the university offered interactive modules in informatics, astronomy, applied mathematics, and AI.

On Thursday, 27 November 2025, USI will host an afternoon of studies dedicated to the new EU-CH Electricity Agreement, a key dossier for the country's energy future. The public event will be held from 1:30 to 7 pm in room 355 on the West Campus Lugano room 355.

The 14th edition of the Executive MBA began on 14 November with an orientation day, followed by the Leadership module. With testimonies from former students, an international group and a strong focus on ethics and sustainability, the programme aims to train responsible leaders.

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is once again holding its annual science photo and video competition, open to researchers working throughout Switzerland. The deadline for submissions is 2 February 2026.

On Wednesday, 3 December, the ten finalists of the current edition of the accelerator will take the stage at the Palazzo dei Congressi to present their startups and compete for the audience award. The ceremony and the announcement of the winners will be followed by a networking apéro.

The PIRM kick-off will take place on Thursday, 27 November, at 4:45 pm, in the West Campus Lugano Aula magna. USI students will learn about real-life sustainability challenges useful for their theses, and talk to professionals and lecturers. Places are limited, and registration is required.

The first Alpine Seminar of the House of Sustainability, dedicated to social sustainability, was held from 12 to 14 November. Students experienced three immersive days in nature, reflecting on both social and environmental sustainability in an alpine setting.

On Thursday, 4 December at 6:30 pm, L'ideatorio in Cadro will offer a journey to the planetarium, allowing visitors to understand the link between art and science. Two disciplines that seem distant, but which in reality both investigate the world around us. Followed by an aperitif.
