Il video integrale del 30º Dies academicus, tenutosi lo scorso 25 aprile, è ora fruibile sul canale YouTube dell'USI. La cerimonia è stata animata da interventi istituzionali, una tavola rotonda sull’università oggi, dalla consegna di onorificenze e da momenti artistici e musicali.

Lo scorso 23 aprile, all’Accademia di architettura, Mario Botta ha dialogato con Jakob Bill, figlio di Max Bill, in un incontro moderato dalla giornalista RSI Rachele Bianchi Porro. Intervistato a margine, il professor Botta ha ricordato Bill, riflettendo sulla bellezza e sul ruolo dell'Accademia.

In un'intervista al Corriere del Ticino Andrea Emilio Rizzoli, Direttore di IDSIA USI-SUPSI, commenta la rapida diffusione dell'intelligenza artificiale generativa in Svizzera. Tra vantaggi immediati e rischi culturali, il tema centrale resta l'uso consapevole di questi strumenti.

Lunedì 11 maggio a partire dalle 17:30 il LAC, Lugano arte e cultura ospiterà la Cerimonia dei diplomi dell’USI dedicata alle Facoltà di Lugano. All’evento parteciperanno il Rettore ad interim e rappresentanti istituzionali, con accompagnamento musicale a cura della Scuola di musica moderna.

Andrea Cavalli, Group Leader dell'IRB, guida ricerche tra IA e biomedicina per sviluppare nuove terapie antitumorali. Come illustrato a laRegione, il suo team studia strategie innovative per colpire proteine finora difficili da trattare, con possibili applicazioni contro il cancro alla prostata.

Dal 21 al 24 aprile Lugano ha ospitato CMIS 2026, simposio dedicato alla meccanica del contatto promosso dalla Facoltà di scienze informatiche. L'evento ha riunito 61 partecipanti da 17 Paesi, con keynote lecture, contributi scientifici e sessioni su temi classici e nuove frontiere della disciplina.

Martedì 5 maggio Giuseppe Redaelli, presidente dell'Autodromo Nazionale di Monza e della Commissione storica della FIA, terrà una lezione pubblica all'USI nell'ambito del Master in International Tourism. Al centro dell'incontro il valore culturale, economico e turistico del motorismo storico.

Giovedì 7 maggio lo scrittore martinicano Patrick Chamoiseau sarà ospite dell'USI nel corso "Français de la mode". L'incontro aperto alla comunità accademica offrirà un dialogo su identità culturale e moda come linguaggio non verbale con una voce centrale della letteratura francofona contemporanea.

La settima edizione della Castelgrande Lecture si terrà martedì 12 maggio al Castelgrande di Bellinzona. L'ospite scelto è il medico e farmacologo Silvio Garattini, che proporrà la conferenza “Prevenzione è rivoluzione”, dedicata al valore della prevenzione nella salute pubblica e nella ricerca.

Giovedì 21 maggio il Campus Est USI-SUPSI ospiterà il Congresso annuale SATW 2026 dedicato all'invecchiamento in buona salute. L'evento approfondirà temi come medicina personalizzata, sanità digitale, innovazione sociale e Vital Living, con esperti del mondo scientifico, medico e industriale.

Il 26 giugno l’Università di Berna ospiterà l’evento per l’anniversario di Scholars at Risk dedicato alla libertà accademica e al sostegno dei ricercatori a rischio. L’incontro riunirà istituzioni e reti nazionali e vedrà, per l'USI, anche la partecipazione dell'assistente dottorando Parwiz Mosamim.

Tramite incontri 1-to-1 con il team dell’USI Startup Centre, ricercatori, studenti e aspiranti imprenditori che hanno un’idea di startup possono ricevere un primo feedback, scoprire i programmi di supporto disponibili ed esplorare i prossimi passi.

Martedì 19 maggio, durante la pausa pranzo, USI Startup Centre organizza un workshop per dottorandi, postdoc e ricercatori su come costruire un team solido per una startup fin dal primo giorno, con esempi pratici e casi reali.

Dal 1° maggio 2026 è attivo in tutta la Svizzera il numero gratuito 142, disponibile 24 ore su 24 per le vittime di violenza fisica, psicologica e sessuale. Il servizio offre ascolto, consulenza e orientamento, garantendo un supporto immediato e accessibile.

Chi è la prima o il primo nella propria famiglia ad accedere all'università affronta sfide spesso invisibili. Il progetto FirstGen offre risorse, orientamento e una rete di supporto per studentesse e studenti e per chi è attivo nei contesti accademici svizzeri.

Mohammad Alian Nejadi ha ottenuto il Dottorato in Informatica all'USI nel 2019. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Assistant Professor presso l'Università di Amsterdam (Paesi Bassi).

On 23 April, Mario Botta joined Jakob Bill, son of Max Bill, for a public encounter at the Academy of Architecture, moderated by RSI journalist Rachele Bianchi Porro. Interviewed after the event, professor Botta remembered Bill, pondering on the meaning of beauty and the Academy's role.

The seventh Castelgrande Lecture will be held on Tuesday, 12 May at Castelgrande, Bellinzona. Guest speaker Silvio Garattini, physician and pharmacologist, will present “Prevention as revolution”, exploring the value of prevention in public health and research.

On Thursday, 21 May, the USI-SUPSI East Campus will host the SATW 2026 Annual Congress, dedicated to healthy ageing. The event will explore themes of personalised medicine, digital health, social innovation, and "Vital Living", featuring experts from the scientific, medical, and industrial sectors.

On 26 June, the University of Bern will host the Scholars at Risk’s anniversary event, dedicated to academic freedom and support for researchers at risk. The event will bring together national institutions and networks, featuring PhD research assistant Parwiz Mosamim on behalf of USI.

Through 1-to-1 meetings with the USI Startup Centre team, researchers, students and aspiring entrepreneurs who have a startup idea can receive initial feedback, discover available support programmes, and explore next steps.

On 19 May, the USI Startup Centre is organising a lunchtime workshop for PhD students, postdocs, and researchers on building a strong startup team from day one, featuring practical examples and real-world cases.

From 1 May 2026, the freephone number 142 is active across Switzerland, available 24/7 for victims of physical, psychological, and sexual violence. The service offers listening, advice, and guidance, ensuring immediate and accessible support.

The firstGen project supports students embarking on their university journey without any academic role models in their families, offering practical resources, personal accounts and a support network. A national cooperation project in which USI is actively involved.
