La Rettrice dell'USI, Luisa Lambertini, ha presentato le proprie dimissioni e concluderà il mandato il 31.12.2025 per tornare alla ricerca scientifica. L’USI la ringrazia per il lavoro svolto. Dal 1.1.2026 il Prorettore Gabriele Balbi assumerà il ruolo di Rettore ad interim.

L’USI ha premiato le migliori studentesse e i migliori studenti di Bachelor e Master durante la cerimonia del 1° dicembre in Aula Magna. Consegnate borse premio, premi al merito e riconoscimenti speciali attribuiti da Fondazione USI, istituzioni partner e associazioni professionali.

L'ottava edizione dell'acceleratore ticinese si è conclusa il 3 dicembre con oltre 600 partecipanti presenti alla serata finale al Palazzo dei Congressi. MethylX (spin-off dell'IRB incubata presso l'USI Startup Centre), OOVIE Studios, Tellus Greentech e Windtrax si sono uniti a CC Cardio sul podio.

Il gruppo Culture of Care del Bellinzona Institutes of Science (Bios⁺) vince il Culture of Care Award 2025 del Centro svizzero di competenza 3R, un riconoscimento alle iniziative che elevano gli standard di benessere degli animali nella ricerca.

Martedì 16 dicembre il Campus Ovest ospiterà un mercatino solidale con la Croce Rossa: il Servizio sport metterà in vendita attrezzatura sciistica per sostenerne le iniziative. Studenti e studentesse potranno contribuire con oggetti propri. La giornata si chiuderà con una merenda condivisa.

Lunedì 15 dicembre l’Osservatorio ticinese sulla criminalità organizzata proporrà una tavola rotonda sulla “mafiosfera”: l’estetica criminale che sui social trasforma clan e narcos in icone digitali. Esperti e studiosi analizzeranno il fenomeno e il ruolo della Svizzera, con dibattito finale.

In occasione del commiato di Antonella Anedda, giovedì 18 dicembre si terrà una giornata di studi presso l'Aula magna del Campus Ovest di Lugano. Un pomeriggio di interventi, letture e riflessioni sulla poesia, con presentazione del volume "La vita dei dettagli". La prenotazione è necessaria.

Lo scorso 4 dicembre gli studenti di "Fundamentals in Public Communication" hanno visitato Palazzo delle Orsoline, incontrando i responsabili della comunicazione cantonale. L'iniziativa ha offerto uno sguardo diretto sulle pratiche, le sfide e le strategie della comunicazione pubblica in Ticino.

Due team della Facoltà di scienze informatiche dell'USI hanno partecipato allo SWERC 2025 a Pisa, classificandosi 76ª e 105ª su 142. Un risultato rilevante per una realtà giovane, ottenuto grazie alla selezione interna e alla preparazione curata da Laura Pozzi, Antonio Carzaniga e Kai Hormann.

Giovedì 18 dicembre, presso il foyer dell’Aula Polivalente del Campus Est di Lugano, la Facoltà di scienze informatiche presenterà i progetti del semestre autunnale. Dalle 14:00 si susseguiranno gli interventi delle studentesse e degli studenti, seguiti alle 16:30 da un aperitivo natalizio.

USI Digicamp apre le candidature per studentesse e studenti di Bachelor e Master dell’USI interessati a insegnare e condividere le proprie competenze nell’ambito della digitalizzazione. Un’occasione per mettersi alla prova come docenti e trasmettere le proprie passioni.

Martedì 11 novembre 2025 è stata lanciata la prima campagna nazionale contro la violenza domestica, sessuale e di genere promossa dall'Ufficio federale per l'uguaglianza fra donna e uomo (UFU), in collaborazione con Confederazione, Cantoni, Comuni e numerose organizzazioni della società civile.

Lunedì 1° dicembre si è tenuta la cerimonia di premiazione dei migliori studenti e studentesse di Bachelor e di Master dell'USI, in cui è stata conferita anche la borsa di studio del Servizio pari opportunità a sostegno delle studentesse nelle discipline MINT.

Dal 1° dicembre 2025 si aprono le 24 caselle del calendario dell’Avvento “Sguardi sostenibili” che promuove progetti innovativi, quiz e premi all’insegna della sostenibilità. Scoprite anche voi, con noi, una Svizzera italiana sostenibile.

L'ideatorio propone un corso di formazione che permetterà di conoscere meglio gli strumenti dell'IA, con i loro limiti e possibilità. Sono previsti tre pomeriggi formativi a partire da mercoledì 21 gennaio 2025. Il corso è aperto a tutti, con iscrizione obbligatoria.

Sono aperte le iscrizioni per “Adamo ed etica”, una commedia grottesca, esilarante e a tratti drammatica per riflettere sull’uso dell’intelligenza artificiale di oggi e di domani. Un progetto di teatro e giornalismo di Pop Economix, che si svolgerà il 24 febbraio al Teatro Foce con entrata libera.

Marco Maggi, Professore straordinario di letterature comparate e teoria della letteratura presso la Facoltà di comunicazione, cultura e società, è stato recentemente nominato Chair del Research Group "Comparing Literatures, Arts, and Media" in seno alla European Society of Comparative Literature.

Samuel Corecco, che ha conseguito un Master in Intelligenza Artificiale presso l’USI, è stato insignito del Premio Fritz Kutter 2025 per una tesi sviluppata all’IRSOL che introduce SunTransformer, un modello di IA capace di analizzare i dati del Sole con velocità e accuratezza senza precedenti.

Andrea Brites Marto ha ottenuto il Master of Science in Software & Data Engineering all'USI nel 2024. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Software & Data Engineer presso lo Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics a Basilea.

The Rector of USI, Luisa Lambertini, has resigned and will end her term of office on 31 December 2025 to return to scientific research. USI thanks her for her work. From 1 January 2026, Pro-Rector Gabriele Balbi will take on the role of interim Rector.

USI honoured the best Bachelor's and Master's students during a ceremony held on 1 December in the Aula Magna. Scholarships, merit awards and special recognitions were presented by the USI Foundation, partner institutions and professional associations.

The Culture of Care group at Bellinzona Institutes of Science (Bios⁺) wins the Culture of Care Award 2025 from the Swiss 3R Competence Centre, a recognition of initiatives that raise animal welfare standards in research.

On Tuesday, 16 December 2025, the West Campus Lugano will host a charity market in collaboration with the Swiss Red Cross: an opportunity to support charitable initiatives, breathe new life into objects, and enjoy the day in a spirit of sharing.

On Monday, 15 December, the Ticino Observatory on Organised Crime will host a round table on the "mafiosphere": the criminal aesthetic that transforms clans and drug lords into icons on social media. Experts and scholars will analyse the phenomenon and Switzerland's role. A debate will follow.

To mark Antonella Anedda's farewell, a study day will be held on 18 December at USI's West Campus Aula magna in Lugano. An afternoon of talks, readings and reflections on poetry, with a presentation of the book "La vita dei dettagli". Registration required.

On 4 December, students from the "Fundamentals in Public Communication" course visited Palazzo delle Orsoline, where they met with cantonal communication managers. The initiative offered a direct insight into the practices, challenges and strategies of public communication in Ticino.

L'ideatorio is offering a training course to help participants understand AI tools, their limitations, and their possibilities. The course consists of three informative afternoons, beginning on Wednesday, 21 January2025. The course is open to everyone, but registration is required.
