L'USI rafforza il proprio ecosistema della ricerca con nuove iniziative promosse dal Prorettorato dedicato: incentivi per progetti competitivi, rilancio del FIR e potenziamento del servizio di grant writing. L'obiettivo è sostenere l'eccellenza scientifica e attrarre maggiori finanziamenti.

Le tensioni geopolitiche in Medio Oriente stanno influenzando sia il mercato delle auto elettriche sia l'approvvigionamento energetico europeo. La Prof.ssa Léna Pellandini-Simányi e la ricercatrice Alessandra Motz hanno analizzato gli effetti della crisi sui consumi e sulla sicurezza energetica.

Dalle guerre in Medio Oriente al calo dei viaggi verso gli USA, turismo e geopolitica sono sempre più intrecciati. In un approfondimento dedicato al tema, il docente dell'USI Claudio Visentin riflette sul ruolo dei viaggi tra sicurezza, percezione politica e nuove forme di "boicottaggio silente".

Il Prof. Sascha Roesler dell'Accademia di architettura ha partecipato all'evento "Urbane Pioniere" di NZZ Sustainable Switzerland, dedicato alle sfide della sostenibilità urbana. Al centro del suo intervento il microclima urbano, le ondate di calore e la necessità di ripensare le città svizzere.

Mercoledì 20 maggio, alle 18:30 presso l'Agorà Lio Galfetti dell'Accademia di architettura a Mendrisio, si terrà la presentazione del libro "Fare fino in fondo il proprio mestiere", importante raccolta di scritti e riflessioni dell'architetto Galfetti curata da Nicola Navone.

Giovedì 21 maggio alle ore 18:00, presso il Dazio Grande di Rodi Fiesso, i meteorologi Marco Gaia e Luca Nisi dialogheranno con il giornalista Bruno Giussani e con il pubblico su meteo, cambiamenti climatici nelle Alpi, nuove tecnologie e sul ruolo della meteorologia nella vita quotidiana.

Mercoledì 27 maggio presso l'Aula 250 del Campus Ovest le studentesse e gli studenti del Bachelor in Comunicazione presenteranno brevi interventi pubblici nell'ambito del corso skill "Parlare in pubblico", in collaborazione con l'Accademia Teatro Dimitri. L'evento è aperto a tutta la comunità USI.

Giovedì 28 maggio alle 14:00, presso l’Aula polivalente del Campus Est, la Facoltà di scienze informatiche presenterà i progetti del semestre primaverile con interventi dedicati ai corsi Programming Fundamentals 2 e Software Atelier 4, oltre a una presentazione dell’USI Startup Centre.

Giovedì 28 maggio alle 20:15 presso la Casa della sostenibilità di Airolo, un viaggio tra immagini e narrazione dal vivo accompagnerà il pubblico attraverso il sistema solare per riflettere sulla fragilità della Terra e sulla domanda: “Esiste un pianeta B?”. Posti limitati, iscrizione obbligatoria.

Venerdì 29 maggio presso l'Auditorio del Campus Ovest si terrà la cerimonia del Social Research Prize 2025. Il riconoscimento, promosso dall'Associazione Ciao Table in collaborazione con USI e Istituto di Neuroscienze Cliniche della Svizzera italiana, sarà assegnato alla ricercatrice Veronica Witte.

Mercoledì 3 giugno a Mendrisio si terrà “Running in the Family”, secondo evento di OSC QUAD GEMS 2026 promosso dall’OSC in collaborazione con l'USI. L’incontro approfondirà il tema della trasmissione intergenerazionale della sofferenza mentale, tra prevenzione, ricerca clinica e salute pubblica.

Venerdì 12 giugno si terrà la prima Alumni Reunion del Master in Digital Fashion Communication all'USI: un'occasione di networking, condivisione di esperienze professionali e festeggiamenti tra 131 alumni attivi nel mondo.

La redazione di un brevetto richiede chiarezza e completezza per risultare solido e difendibile. Per supportare ricercatori e ricercatrici, USI Transfer ha creato due guide pratiche dedicate ai settori informatico e biotech con raccomandazioni utili per aiutare la stesura della domanda di brevetto.

Sono stati 66 i donatori che tra il 5 e il 6 maggio 2026 hanno aderito alle giornate di donazione di sangue USI-SUPSI, 21 dei quali alla prima donazione, organizzate in collaborazione con il Servizio Trasfusionale CRS della Svizzera italiana. Un grazie di cuore a tutti loro.

Il Swiss LGBTIQ+ Panel dell'Università di Zurigo raccoglie voci da tutta la Svizzera per comprendere come cambia l'integrazione nella società. L'indagine è aperta a tutte le persone, indipendentemente da orientamento, identità o caratteristiche sessuali.

Nel quadro del Festival della Natura 2026, venerdì 22 maggio all'USI si terrà un incontro sulla compensazione della biodiversità. Partendo dal caso di una miniera nel nord della Svezia, l'evento analizzerà limiti pratici, etici e politici di uno strumento centrale nella transizione ecologica.

Patrizia Holzborn ha ottenuto la Licenza quadriennale in Scienze economiche all'USI nel 2001. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Direttrice presso Atlante a Melide.

On Wednesday, 20 May, at 6:30 pm, the Agorà Lio Galfetti of the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio will host the presentation of the volume "Fare fino in fondo il proprio mestiere", an important collection of writings and reflections by the architect Galfetti, edited by Nicola Navone.

On Thursday, 21 May, at 6:00 pm, at Dazio Grande in Rodi Fiesso, meteorologists Marco Gaia and Luca Nisi will converse with journalist Bruno Giussani and the public regarding the weather, climate change in the Alps, new technologies, and the role of meteorology in daily life.

On Wednesday, 27 May, in Room 250 of the West Campus, Bachelor in Communication students will deliver short public speeches as part of the "Public Speaking" skills course, in collaboration with the Accademia Teatro Dimitri. The event is open to the entire USI community.

On Thursday, 28 May at 2:00 pm, at Aula polivalente on the East Campus, the Faculty of Informatics will showcase the spring semester projects, with presentations dedicated to the Programming Fundamentals 2 and Software Atelier 4 courses, as well as a presentaion by the USI Startup Centre.

On Thursday, 28 May at 8:15 pm at the House of Sustainability in Airolo, a journey through images and live storytelling will guide the audience through the solar system to reflect on the fragility of the Earth and the question: "Is there a planet B?". Places are limited, registration is required.

On Friday, 29 May, the Social Research Prize 2025 ceremony will be held in the West Campus Auditorium. The award, promoted by Ciao Table Association in collaboration with USI and the Institute of Clinical Neurosciences of Southern Switzerland, will be presented to researcher Veronica Witte.

On Wednesday, 3 June, Mendrisio will host "Running in the Family", the second event in the OSC QUAD GEMS 2026 series, organised by the OSC with USI. It will explore the intergenerational transmission of mental health issues, covering prevention, clinical research, and public health.

On Friday, 12 June, the first Alumni Reunion of the Master in Digital Fashion Communication will take place at USI: an opportunity for networking, sharing professional experiences, and celebrations among 131 alumni active worldwide.

Drafting a patent requires clarity and completeness to ensure it is robust and enforceable. To support researchers, USI Transfer has created two dedicated guides for the IT and biotech sectors, offering useful recommendations to assist in preparing a patent application.

66 donors took part in the USI-SUPSI Blood Donation Days held on 5 and 6 May 2026, 21 of whom were first-time donors. The drive was organised in collaboration with the Transfusion Service SRC of Southern Switzerland. Our heartfelt thanks to all the donors for their contribution.

The Swiss LGBTIQ+ Panel at the University of Zurich brings together voices from across Switzerland to promote inclusion and equality. The survey is open to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics.

As part of the 2026 Nature Festival, a session on biodiversity offsetting will be held at USI on 22 May. Using a mine in Northern Sweden as a case study, the event will analyse the practical, ethical, and political limits of a tool central to the ecological transition.
