Continua la crescita della popolazione studentesca: l'anno accademico 2025-26 vede, tra Bachelor, Master, PhD e formazione continua, un totale 4'750 studenti e studentesse, con un incremento di 214 iscritti rispetto allo scorso anno accademico. Si conferma l'impegno nella ricerca competitiva.

Un incontro promosso dall’O-TiCO ha offerto agli studenti di diversi istituti ticinesi una testimonianza diretta di Fiammetta Borsellino, sul valore della memoria contro le mafie. Vi proponiamo un'intervista alla figlia del compianto magistrato Paolo Borsellino, realizzata a margine dell'evento.

La Facoltà di scienze informatiche ha ottenuto un Research Partnership Grant elargito dal Leading House MENA per un progetto in collaborazione con NYU Abu Dhabi, dedicato a identificare e mappare gli schemi stilistici che possono generare inganni e vulnerabilità nei grandi modelli linguistici.

Suzanna Farace Marazza, giurista e collaboratrice del CCdigitallaw dell'USI, è stata eletta membro della Commissione federale sui media (COFEM). La nomina, ufficializzata lo scorso 12 dicembre, rafforza la presenza dell'USI in un organo consultivo centrale per la politica mediatica svizzera.

Nel semestre autunnale 2025-2026 l'USI ha vissuto un'intensa attività di orientamento partecipando a 32 eventi promozionali, 21 dei quali su territorio elvetico. L'impegno conferma la volontà di aumentare la visibilità Oltralpe e il contatto diretto con studenti ticinesi e confederati.

Sono online i video delle lezioni della quinta edizione del corso Cultura e Salute dell’USI, dedicato alla prescrizione sociale per la salute e il benessere, che permettono di ripercorrere dialoghi e confronti tra scienziati e protagonisti del mondo della cultura.

Le trattative con l’editore SAGE per un accordo Read & Publish 2026-2028 non hanno portato ad un contratto che soddisfi entrambe le parti. Poiché l'accordo attuale scadrà a dicembre 2025, la comunità accademica sarà confrontata con uno scenario senza accordo (“no-deal”) a partire da gennaio 2026.

Il Servizio Alumni dell’USI mette a disposizione tre borse di studio da CHF 4'000 per un Master della Facoltà di scienze informatiche (a.a. 2026/27), finanziate dall’asta di dieci opere Lvgaxy Astro Flowers dell’artista Yuri Catania ritraenti Claude Nicollier.

L'11 gennaio un incontro al MASI con Annalisa Viati e Nicola Navone, Vice Direttore dell’Archivio del Moderno, esplorerà il dialogo tra la pittura costruttivo-concreta di Lohse e l’architettura ticinese del dopoguerra, con attenzione a Peppo Brivio e alle affinità tra arti visive e progettazione.

Cesare Alippi è Professore presso la Facoltà di scienze informatiche dell'USI e affiliato all'IDSIA USI-SUPSI. Il Professor Alippi dirige inoltre il Graph Machine Learning Group, all'interno del quale, grazie ad una collaborazione con l'Imperial College di Londra, è stato sviluppato FibMap.

Da oggi e fino al 22 febbraio 2026 sono aperte le iscrizioni per le prossime edizioni di Business Concept, il corso di imprenditorialità di Innosuisse per ricercatori, studenti e chiunque sia interessato a sviluppare una startup science-based. Il programma comprende 1 bootcamp e 10 lezioni serali.

In un mondo che corre e raramente si ferma ad ascoltare, la serata "Il dolore invisibile" all'USI ha aperto uno spazio raro e necessario: un luogo in cui il disagio mentale può finalmente emergere dal silenzio, trovare voce e incontrare uno sguardo capace di accogliere.

Lo scorso 11 dicembre si è svolto all'USI il LeadHer: BPW-USI Mentoring Christmas Event, dedicato alle mentee del programma 2025-2026. Durante l'evento, le Mentor hanno guidato le mentee su transizioni di carriera, personal branding e strategie per muoversi in contesti lavorativi intergenerazionali.

Per diminuire lo spreco di energia elettrica durante il periodo più freddo dell’anno, l’USI vi ricorda di non dimenticare porte o finestre aperte e di spegnere le luci o altri apparecchi elettronici a fine giornata.

Il 22 gennaio, al Cinema Blenio di Acquarossa, andrà in scena uno spettacolo teatrale interattivo per riflettere sul clima. La pièce unisce dati scientifici, musica e partecipazione del pubblico per raccontare la crisi climatica con realismo e speranza. Entrata gratuita, prenotazione consigliata.

Alessandro Gambardella ha ottenuto il Master in Marketing and Trasformative Economy all'USI nel 2021. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Customer Experience Strategist presso Air Dolomiti a Verona.

On 22 January, Cinema Blenio in Acquarossa will host an interactive theatre performance to reflect on climate change. The play combines scientific data, music and audience participation to portray the climate crisis with realism and hope. Admission is free, but reservation is recommended.
