Quali rischi comporta lo sviluppo dell'intelligenza artificiale e chi dovrebbe controllarlo? Ospite del Telegiornale (RSI), Andrea-Emilio Rizzoli, Direttore dell'IDSIA USI-SUPSI, ha distinto gli scenari più speculativi dai pericoli concreti legati all'utilizzo di questi strumenti.

Dal 4 al 17 ottobre Villa Ciani a Lugano ospita "Francesco e l'abito perfetto. I costumi di Fratello sole, sorella luna", una mostra dedicata al rapporto tra Francesco d'Assisi e il vestire, raccontato attraverso testimonianze, arte e i costumi del celebre film del regista Franco Zeffirelli.

Dal 16 al 18 ottobre l'USI ospiterà la seconda edizione di Neural Wave, un hackathon dedicato all'IA che riunirà studenti da tutta la Svizzera e non solo. Il Prof. Massimo Filippini, Professore ordinario con cattedra congiunta USI-ETH Zurich, e Suchita Srinivasan hanno ricevuto il Marcel Boiteux Best International Energy Economics Book Award per il volume "An Introduction to Energy Economics and Policy".

La sesta edizione della International Software Engineering Summer School (SIESTA), organizzata dal Software Institute dell’USI con la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, ha riunito a Madrid 24 partecipanti da 9 Paesi per approfondire le nuove frontiere dell’ingegneria del software.

Invitata al più grande congresso mondiale di cardiologia a Monaco, la Prof.ssa Annegret Hannawa ha spiegato perché correggere i fatti non basta a contrastare la disinformazione e come le competenze comunicative siano diventate un fattore critico di sicurezza.

La nuova Ambasciatrice della Repubblica di Lettonia in Svizzera, Ingrīda Levrence, ha visitato Lugano e l'USI, dove ha incontrato la Presidente del Consiglio dell'ateneo Monica Duca Widmer e il Rettore Claudio Bassetti per discutere le relazioni e le opportunità di collaborazione.

Dal 22 settembre al 2 dicembre torna a Lugano la Rassegna NEL FUTURO, con cinque incontri dedicati alle trasformazioni dell'Europa attraverso scienza, storia, arte e società. L'ideatorio dell'USI è tra i partner dell'iniziativa e partecipa al programma il Professore Gabriele Balbi.

Dall'1 al 4 ottobre il Cinema Lux di Massagno ospiterà la prima edizione del Merge Film Festival, che annovera tra i suoi partner l'USI. Il festival è la prima manifestazione cinematografica in Svizzera interamente dedicata all'impatto dell'intelligenza artificiale nel cinema e nelle arti visive.

L'USI ha accolto 23 allieve e allievi del Liceo cantonale di Bellinzona per una giornata dedicata alla programmazione dei droni. Attraverso un laboratorio pratico, i giovani si sono confrontati con diverse sfide, avvicinandosi al mondo dell'informatica e della programmazione.

USI Transfer promuove "Create - Protect - Innovate: Bringing ideas to market", corso online dell'Ufficio Europeo dei Brevetti dedicato alla proprietà intellettuale. Il programma, rivolto a studenti di Bachelor, Master e dottorato, si terrà dal 16 ottobre 2026 al 31 gennaio 2027.

Sabato 26 settembre la Casa della sostenibilità dell'USI propone una giornata tra arrampicata, scienza e sostenibilità, per riflettere sul rapporto tra chi frequenta la montagna e gli ecosistemi alpini, approfondendo pratiche responsabili, tutela ambientale e futuro della montagna.

Martedì 29 settembre dalle 12:00 alle 13:00, presso l’Aula A12 del Palazzo Rosso al Campus Ovest di Lugano, sarà presentata l’edizione 2026-2027 del Programma di Mentoring professionale BPW-USI, un’occasione per conoscere più da vicino il programma e le opportunità offerte.

La campagna nazionale "L’uguaglianza previene la violenza" entra nella seconda fase con nuovi soggetti dedicati alla violenza domestica e alla sorveglianza digitale. La campagna pone l'accento sul numero telefonico 142, gratuito, anonimo e attivo 24 ore su 24.

From 4 to 17 October, Villa Ciani in Lugano is hosting "Francis and the perfect garment: the costumes of Brother Sun, Sister Moon", an exhibition dedicated to the relationship between Francis of Assisi and attire, explored through historical accounts, art and costumes from Franco Zeffirelli's film.

From 16 to 18 October, USI will host the second Neural Wave, an AI-focused hackathon bringing together students from across Switzerland and beyond. For 48 hours, participants will work in teams to develop solutions to real-world challenges proposed by partner companies. Registration is open.

From 22 September to 2 December, the NEL FUTURO series returns to Lugano with five events dedicated to Europe's transformations through science, history, art, and society. USI's L'ideatorio is among the initiative's partners and Professor Gabriele Balbi is featured in the programme.

USI welcomed 23 students from the Cantonal High School of Bellinzona for a day dedicated to drone programming. Through a hands-on workshop, the young participants tackled a range of challenges and got closer to the world of informatics and programming.

The national campaign "Equality prevents violence" is entering its second phase with new subjects dedicated to domestic violence and digital surveillance. The campaign highlights the 142 telephone number, which is free, anonymous and active 24/7.
