Tommaso Fantini and Alberto Rossi, two architects who trained at the USI Academy of Architecture, have won the competition to design the new Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb. VG13 Architects, the practice founded by the two alumni, won the international tender, which brought together 88 entries from over 20 countries. The proposal features a 35,000-seat stadium compliant with UEFA Category 4, intended to replace the historic facility used by Dinamo Zagreb and the Croatian national teams. Also inspired by the legacy of architect Vladimir Turina, the project includes additional football pitches, facilities for other sports disciplines, public spaces, and an underground car park. The investment planned for the first phase of the complex's development exceeds 200 million euros. The connection between Fantini, Rossi, and the Academy remains active, particularly through the Angonese Atelier, where they are collaborating in the current academic year.
