NTU Singapore, NHG Health e GERI hanno inaugurato l'Healthy Longevity Institute. Per l'occasione è stata annunciata anche una partnership tra NTU e l'International Alliance on Brain Health, guidata dal Rettore USI Claudio Bassetti, che apre nuove opportunità di collaborazione anche per USI e EOC.

L'USI ha partecipato all'AI+X Summit di Zurigo con IDSIA USI-SUPSI, USI Startup Centre e USI Transfer. Ricerca sull'intelligenza artificiale, startup science-driven e trasferimento di conoscenza sono stati al centro della presenza del nostro ateneo.

Venerdì 6 novembre il Campus Est USI-SUPSI di Lugano ospiterà l'Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine Forum, dedicato al ruolo dell'intelligenza artificiale nella ricerca biomedica e nella medicina personalizzata. Aperta fino al 19 ottobre una call for abstracts per ricercatrici e ricercatori.

Martedì 20 ottobre l'USI Finance Career Board riunirà CEO e Direttori generali delle 16 aziende partner per una serata di dialogo con la direzione e la comunità accademica dell'USI, dedicata alle carriere nella finanza, al venture capital e all'intelligenza artificiale nell'asset management.

L'European Solar Telescope ha ottenuto lo status di ESFRI Landmark, riconoscimento della sua rilevanza strategica per la ricerca europea. L'USI e l'IRSOL partecipano al progetto e guidano il Consorzio svizzero EST, che riunisce gruppi di ricerca di dieci università e istituti svizzeri.

Recentemente l'Istituto di ricerca in biomedicina, affiliato all'USI, ha ospitato il 3° Workshop internazionale sulla spondilite anchilosante, riunendo scienziati e clinici di rilievo internazionale per discutere i più recenti progressi nella comprensione e nel trattamento delle spondiloartriti.

L'USI propone un ciclo di workshop dedicati allo sviluppo professionale di dottorandi e ricercatori post-doc, tra carriera accademica, opportunità nell'industria e networking. Il primo appuntamento è in programma lunedì 19 ottobre con Giovanna Gallì e Irene Formica, due esperte di Spencer Stuart.

Il programma USI Founders' Option permette di sviluppare una startup durante gli studi di Master, ottenendo fino a 30 ECTS. In vista della nuova edizione nel gennaio 2027, l'USI organizza tre incontri tra ottobre e dicembre per presentare l'iniziativa e favorire l'incontro tra futuri cofondatori.

Lo scorso mese di settembre il Servizio orientamento e promozione dell'USI ha incontrato studenti di tutta la Svizzera, tra visite al campus, fiere ed eventi nelle scuole. Le attività hanno coinvolto istituti della Svizzera tedesca e romanda, scuole internazionali e i licei ticinesi.

L'Archivio del Moderno dell'Accademia di architettura segnala una Call for Papers dedicata alle migrazioni di architetti e artigiani ticinesi tra il 1500 e il 1914. La sessione si terrà alla University of Exeter, nell'ambito della Association for Art History Annual Conference 2027.

La Dr.ssa Mónika Kék, Visiting Scholar presso il Gruppo di Ricerca Integrità Pubblica (GRIP) dell'USI, ha pubblicato sul principale media online indipendente ungherese Telex un approfondimento sulla partecipazione democratica e sul coinvolgimento dei cittadini nelle decisioni pubbliche.

Lunedì 19 ottobre il Teatro dell’architettura Mendrisio ospita una conferenza di Arduino Cantàfora in occasione dell’inaugurazione della Galleria a lui dedicata, che raccoglie i lavori realizzati dagli studenti durante i suoi anni di insegnamento presso l’Accademia di architettura dell’USI.

Martedì 20 ottobre il Laboratorio di lingue moderne propone una lezione aperta sugli elvetismi, nell’ambito della Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo. Le docenti Lara Faccio e Pamela Trincado esploreranno parole ed espressioni proprie dell’italiano utilizzato in Svizzera.

Martedì 20 ottobre in occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell’Osteoporosi l’USI ospita, in collaborazione con EOC, una conferenza pubblica per approfondire la patologia, i suoi sintomi, i principali fattori di rischio e i percorsi diagnostici per riconoscerla tempestivamente. L'ingresso è libero.

È aperta fino al 23 ottobre la call for proposals per i Voxxed Days Ticino 2027, in programma il 18 e 19 febbraio 2027 al Palazzo dei Congressi di Lugano. Gli interessati possono proporre interventi, workshop e progetti da condividere con la comunità degli sviluppatori.

Il progetto Bee-Blip presentato dal PD Dr. med Thomas Giesen, Libero docente presso la Facoltà di scienze biomediche, ha ricevuto la Medaglia d'Oro dell'Innovation Fair al 46° Congresso Mondiale di Ortopedia SICOT di Kyoto. Il prototipo mira a semplificare una procedura della chirurgia ortopedica.

Julia Friedl ha conseguito il Master in Corporate Communication all'USI nel 2009. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Director People & Organization Development presso Infineon Technologies a Monaco di Baviera (Germania).

The European Solar Telescope has been granted ESFRI Landmark status, recognising its strategic importance for European research. USI and IRSOL are involved in the project and lead the Swiss EST Consortium, which brings together research groups from ten Swiss universities and institutes.

Recently the Institute for Research in Biomedicine, affiliated to USI, hosted the 3rd International Workshop on Ankylosing Spondylitis, bringing together leading scientists and clinicians in Bellinzona to discuss recent advances in the understanding and treatment of spondyloarthritis.

USI Founders' Option programme lets students develop a startup during their Master's studies and earn up to 30 ECTS. Ahead of the new edition starting in January 2027, USI is organising three sessions between October and December to introduce the initiative and help prospective co-founders meet.

In September, USI Study Advisory and Promotion Service met students across Switzerland through campus visits, fairs, and school events. The activities involved institutions in German- and French-speaking Switzerland, international schools, and high schools in Ticino.

On Monday, 19 October, Teatro dell’architettura Mendrisio will host a lecture by Arduino Cantàfora to mark the inauguration of the gallery dedicated to him, which brings together the work produced by students during his years of teaching at USI Academy of Architecture.

On Tuesday, 20 October, the Laboratory of Modern Languages will offer an open lecture on Helvetisms as part of the Week of the Italian Language in the World. Lecturers Lara Faccio and Pamela Trincado will explore words and expressions unique to Italian as spoken in Switzerland.

On Tuesday, 20 October, to mark World Osteoporosis Day, USI will host a public lecture in collaboration with EOC to explore the condition, its symptoms, key risk factors, and diagnostic pathways for early detection. Admission is free.

The Bee-Blip project, presented by PD Dr med Thomas Giesen, Privatdozent at the USI Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, received the Innovation Fair Gold Medal at the 46th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress in Kyoto. The prototype aims to simplify an orthopaedic surgery procedure.
