Quattro nuovi progetti USI sono stati selezionati nel programma SNSF Spark: dall’immunoterapia oncologica alla fisica e modellizzazione solare, fino alla crittografia. Un riconoscimento al potenziale innovativo e interdisciplinare della ricerca USI in un bando altamente competitivo.

Il Prof. Mattia Arrigo, nuovo membro della Facoltà di scienze biomediche dell’USI, terrà il 19 novembre la lezione inaugurale dedicata all’approccio integrato nella cura dell’insufficienza cardiaca acuta. In vista dell’evento, lo abbiamo intervistato.

Dal mare d’Irlanda arriva una nuova molecola con potenziale contro i tumori del sangue: ricercatori dello IOR (affiliato all'USI) e dell’Università di Galway hanno scoperto un composto naturale, derivato da una lumaca marina, capace di bloccare la crescita delle cellule di linfoma più aggressive.

Il 19 novembre 2025 alle 17:30, nell’Aula A11 del Palazzo Rosso (Campus Ovest Lugano), la Facoltà di Teologia di Lugano presenta “Nel ricordo l’appello alla Pace: 80 anni di Hiroshima e Nagasaki”, con Yoko Boscato, Annalisa Manera e M. Antoni J. Ucerler, S.J., e una mostra dal 12 al 23 novembre.

Ricercatori dell’Istituto oncologico di ricerca e dell’Istituto di ricerca in biomedicina (affiliati all’USI) hanno identificato i primi inibitori dei fattori FOXA1 e FOXA2, aprendo nuove prospettive terapeutiche per il cancro alla prostata, finora considerato non trattabile farmacologicamente.

Un team dell’IRB (affiliato all’USI) ha utilizzato l’intelligenza artificiale per progettare miniproteine capaci di legarsi alla lipocalina-2, una molecola chiave nei processi di neuroinfiammazione. La scoperta apre nuove prospettive per la diagnosi e il trattamento delle malattie cerebrali.

Il 16 novembre 2025, dalle 13:30 alle 15:30, all’Asilo Ciani di Lugano, il progetto F.A.R.E. dell’Istituto di salute pubblica dell'USI propone il seminario “Riconoscere e gestire lo stress”, nell’ambito della Giornata di benessere per i familiari curanti. Ingresso libero fino a esaurimento posti.

Il 19 novembre 2025, dalle 17:00 alle 20:00, nell’Auditorium del Campus Ovest Lugano, l’Istituto di diritto dell'USI presenta “Terror”, spettacolo che mette il pubblico nei panni di una giuria chiamata a decidere sul confine tra legge e morale. Seguiranno dibattito e aperitivo.

Sono disponibili sul canale YouTube dell'eLab le prime risorse sviluppate nell'ambito del progetto EASE - Educational Academic Staff Empowerment: tre brevi video che offrono indicazioni pratiche ai docenti dell'USI per promuovere l'apprendimento attivo e la partecipazione degli studenti.

USI Transfer incoraggia i ricercatori dell'USI a segnalare invenzioni o software sviluppati nel corso delle loro attività di ricerca, per valutarne il potenziale innovativo e avviare il processo di tutela della relativa proprietà intellettuale.

Giovedì 27 novembre alle 16:45 in Aula magna (Campus Ovest) si terrà il workshop kick-off di PIRM. Studentesse e studenti di Comunicazione, Economia e Informatica sono invitati a partecipare e scoprire sfide reali proposte da professionisti della sostenibilità, potenziali argomenti di tesi.

In occasione dei 16 giorni di attivismo contro la violenza di genere, USI e SUPSI, con il patrocinio della Città di Mendrisio, invitano alla proiezione del documentario La Pandemia oscura di Paola Ghislieri. Seguirà una tavola rotonda per riflettere, e costruire una comunità più sicura e più giusta.

Il Servizio pari opportunità dell'Università della Svizzera italiana mette a concorso una borsa premio una tantum del valore di CHF 4'000 per l'anno accademico 2025/26 destinata ad una studentessa immatricolata al primo anno di un Master offerto dalla Facoltà di scienze informatiche.

Rosa Maria Marta Caruso e Francesco Maranelli sono i vincitori della terza edizione del Premio Mendrisio-Archivio del Moderno. Trascorreranno sei mesi all’Archivio del Moderno dell’USI per approfondire lo studio dell’architettura contemporanea e presentare i risultati delle loro ricerche.

Irene Ratti ha ottenuto il Master in European Studies in Investor Relations and Financial Communication all'USI nel 2022. Attualmente ricopre il ruolo di ESG Advisor presso KPMG, Lussemburgo.

Four new USI projects have been selected for the SNSF Spark programme: from cancer immunotherapy to solar physics and modelling, to cryptography. This selection highlights the innovative and interdisciplinary nature of USI research in a highly competitive proposal process.

A new molecule with potential against blood cancers has been discovered in the Irish Sea: researchers from IOR (affiliated with USI) and the University of Galway have found a natural compound, derived from a sea slug, that can block the growth of the most aggressive lymphoma cells.

On 19 November 2025 at 5:30 pm (Red Building Room A11, West Campus Lugano), the Faculty of Theology presents a conference on the "80 years of Hiroshima and Nagasaki”, with Yoko Boscato, Annalisa Manera and M. Antoni J. Ucerler, S.J., and an exhibition from 12 to 23 November.

Researchers at the Institute of Oncology Research and the Institute for Biomedical Research (affiliated with USI) have identified the first inhibitors of the FOXA1 and FOXA2 factors, opening up new therapeutic prospects for prostate cancer, which has been considered untreatable with drugs until now.

A team at the IRB (affiliated to USI) has used artificial intelligence to design mini-proteins capable of binding to lipocalin-2, a key molecule in neuroinflammation processes. The discovery opens up new prospects for the diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases.

On 16 November 2025, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, at Asilo Ciani in Lugano, the F.A.R.E. project of the USI Institute of Public Health will hold the seminar "Recognising and managing stress" as part of the Wellbeing Day for family carers. Admission is free until all seats are filled.

The first tools developed as part of the EASE - Educational Academic Staff Empowerment project are now available on the eLab YouTube channel, featuring three short videos that offer practical guidance to USI lecturers on promoting active learning and student participation.

The Equal Opportunities Service of Università della Svizzera italiana is offering a one-time award scholarship worth CHF 4,000 for the 2025/26 academic year, intended for a female student enrolled in the first year of a Master’s programme at the Faculty of Informatics.

Rosa Maria Marta Caruso and Francesco Maranelli are the winners of the third edition of the Mendrisio-Archivio del Moderno Prize. They will spend six months at the USI Archivio del Moderno to further their studies in contemporary architecture and present the results of their research.

Irene Ratti earned her Master's degree in European Studies in Investor Relations and Financial Communication at USI in 2022. She is currently working as an ESG Advisor at KPMG in Luxembourg.
