Titled "Digital media for island tourism. The case of Madeira and its heritage", the School will explore issues related to tourism and heritage in the special environment of an island, considering how digital media can support sustainable approaches.
Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, the archipelago of Madeira is a Portuguese territory. It has breathtaking natural settings, crystal-clear waters, centuries-old traditions. Two thirds of its area are protected and hosts the largest Laurisilva forest in the world, a UNESCO WHS since 1999.

Visits to natural and historic heritage like Porto Santo Biosphere Nature Reserve, Port of Funchal Guindaste viewpoint, Câmara de Lobos, Cabo Girão. Experience of local wines and the fine wine making tradition, embroidery tradition dating back to the colonization period, hiking of natural trails.
